2020 3500 Laramie...under 1k miles...1 week off dealer lot. Screen registering constant "ghost touch"...rendering screen 100% useless. RamCare says dealer-only fix...problem is, I'm 1/3 way through cross-country road trip.

After speaking with Ram customer care, they advised me to take it to the dealer for diagnosis. Dealer confirmed screen delaminating but said there was nothing they could do about it since it was out of warranty. They quoted me $1200 or so to replace. I contacted Ram customer care again and they started a case. They contacted dealer to confirm diagnosis and are covering the full cost of replacement. I have an appointment scheduled in 2 weeks for replacement.
I'm happy to hear we were able to assist you. Please let me know if you need any additional assistance.

Good evening all. I just replaced my radios screen with the new part number from LG. As previously stated the new screen is higher resolution and looks much better. My screen had previously been replaced when I purchased the radio refurbished.

If your truck is outside of the bumper to bumper warranty it is not covered by the MOPAR extended warranty. This will have you spending big money at the dealer or buying a used unit that will develop the same issue.

It took me about 15 minutes to take apart the radio. What I noticed was a lot of clear goo that had leaked into the radio that was caused by the delamination. I cleaned this up pretty easily with a towel.

So far so good on the replacement. I will post the links below. If you send your radio to infotainment for repair you are looking at a minimum of $500 to repair. The replacement screen cost me 220 plus 35.00 next day air from Hong Kong.

Buy your screen here:NEW LA084X01-SL02 LG Display a-Si TFT-LCD 8.4-inch 1024×768 LCD panel 90 days wa | eBay

See replacement instructions here:

See my pictures as well. The old vs new part number is pictured. Be sure to not the clear goo that will probably be inside your radio.

2018 Ram 1500 Big Horn, 57XXX miles and no longer in warranty, the screen delamination started in the upper left corner and is now starting to appear on the right corner. Took it into the dealership, they quoted a screen swap part for $780 plus whatever labor necessary.
I've sent a PM to ramcares to see if they can help, just waiting to hear back from them.
Hi!

I just opened a case for you. Please check your PMs when you have a chance.

‘18 Ram Rebel with 30,xxx miles and the screen started delam from the top middle, right above the clock. Have an appointment tomorrow to drop off the truck to get it looked at. How do we get in contact with a ramcare specialist so these problems are being tracked!?! This should be a recall for these defective units! Thanks!
I would like to open a case for you and get you to a Uconnect specialist. If you'd like, please send us your VIN, email, phone number, and mileage to get started.

I looked in other Dodge forums and found where several people living in the south (mainly FL) have a problem with the screen "bubbling" due to delamination. I was surprised not to find anything on this forum. I have a 2018 RAM 2500 Power Wagon. We're now done with winter here in FL, but I didn't notice it until about the end of Feb. It's very noticeable. If heat is the issue, I wonder why it didn't start until Feb, when it was still rather cool. Unless it was a matter of it being cool (45-55) in the mornings and warming into mid-70 or higher during the day, plus considering the humidity. I don't have my windows tinted.... yet.
When I clean my screen, I spray screen cleaner lightly on a rag and wipe the screen, the same as you would do a computer screen.
This seems to be a manufacturer defect. Has anyone else noticed this issue? Thanks!

Hi, I’m in North East Louisiana and the screen on my 2018 Ram 2500 has started to delaminate as well. Started as small bubbles in the upper corners and now nearly half the screen. Went to dealer to have them order a replacement under warranty as the truck is my daily driver. They said I would have to drop the truck off first to have their techs determine cause. So I lose my truck twice, one to determine the problem and again to replace as it’s clearly an issue covered under warranty. Extremely disappointing customer service.

I am having the same unfortunate experience with my 2018 Durango. We park in a garage and am very disappointed that a 2 year old vehicle has this kind of issue. Was quoted $678 to repair. If any one can offer a cheaper solution I would appreciate it.

Also in Florida (Tampa Area) - same problem... 2018 Ram 1500 delaminating from the top of the screen noticed several months back - BUT now after the truck has been running for a while - the entire system starts freaking out - as if someone is constantly pressing the screen in different places. Hubby was really annoyed on a road trip to Cocoa Beach on Monday! I came here to look for solutions - but I guess I need to take it to the dealer. (Dayton Andrews - Clearwater, FL).

I talked to the dealer and was told my delamination issues wont be covered because i have 53400 miles on my truck. The delamination is causing constant false inputs on the screen which causes constant beeping and changes to whatever screen is on, ie climate control, radio settings, phone... I cant even turn off the screen to stop the false inputs.

I live in central Georgia and own a 2018 RAM 1500 Night Edition Quad Cab 4x4 that I purchased January 9, 2018. This summer the screen started to delaminate and has now progressed down 1/3 of the way from the top of the screen. How can I get in touch with a Ramcare specialist to get a case opened?

This is the response I received from Ram on my issue. Looks like they really care about their customers. The vehicle mileage has nothing to do with the screen delamination! The truck is a 2018 model.

Dear, Mr. Crawford

Thank you for allowing Ram to assist with your current car care needs, After looking into the vehicle info customer was informed that at this time due to time and mileage on the vehicle, we wont be able to assist with repair cost to vehicle.

Thank you,
Ram

Why is everyone busting on FCA about warranty? Most aftermarket radios are 1 year.

My 2018 Ram1500 started delaminating. The clock and other buttons near the top are going nuts thinking it is being pushed. I saw this before warranty was up but just recently started being a problem at 39k miles. Crazy expensive to replace out of warranty for a problem that seems very common and should have a recall on it. Very disappointed.
