Thinking of putting 2-3 more inches on the front so I need the same on the rear and I already have blocks back there. So I was thinking of getting the height out of replacement shackles. Seems like a better idea than 4-5" blocks, which is probably not safe.

My real question is has anyone used a rear shackle fit on there Gen 3, and is there a disadvantage?

I used really long shackles on a Jeep years ago and it made the back end feel very "loose" as if it was floating side to side, but those were like 4 or 5 inches longer than stock.

I would get new leaf springs if I were in your position.

Yup. Shackle lifts will cause your axles to move in your wheel wells, as well as turn the leaf springs into an "s" shape, eventually leading to their failure. Just go get deavers or something.
