the v10 will almost certainly never sound like a v8 with the 2 extra cylinders firing, the owner at a local muffler shop said hes never had anyone come to him saying they have the perfect v10 muffler. for example mine has a flowmaster super44 dual in/out and sounds good at low and high rpms but the mid rpms resonate a lot and sounds abit unusual but i got used to it

Mine has dual Cherry bombs, sounds like an old inline 6 from some other manufacture... But, it still gets attention as it passes!

I recently bought my v10 and it came with no cat and a flowmaster. Not sure what kind of flowmaster, possibly orginal 40 or supper 44.

This is a trick question, right? The 2500 was not offered with the 8.0. In fact the 8.0 was out of production by then and only the 1500 was offered with the newer 8.3 which is rated at 501 HP at 5600 RPM. Torque is rated at 525 ft. lbs. @ 4100 RPM.
I have a '99 2500 that has an 8.0 in it. Just thought I'd throw my $0.02 in there. I've been looking for a decent exhaust as well, but haven't found what I'm looking for yet.

i've just had mine done as a maintenence issue, had the exhaust explode on the highway and threw a cat at a prius. had the second cat cut off and and straight into a magnaflow dual inlet open dual outlet. the muffler if you look through it is in an x-shape. as if it was an x-pipe inside a muffler. you can see right through it as it is chamberless. i have a bunch of resonace at idle but it sounds great throughout the rpm range. not loud but finally sounds like a truck.

kid a muffler shop had a good quote. said that some guys come in saying they want the same sound as their muscle car and demand the same muffler they have on their 19xx chevy/ford/dodge whatever saying it will sound the same, as if the muffler MAKES sound. they scream and yell when they are left with a truck that "sounds like 2 honda's racing down the street". ha ha ha.

Guess I am a year late but oh well...I just picked up a '94 Ram V10. My question is...Is NYS the only place you are required to use cats? I called my local shop, (you know they inspect and pass me all the time 'cuz we're tight...) But he told me I still needed cats there. Even though I do not need to pass a computerized emissions test...I have to have cats! Buying 2 of them is a lot of money...You guys are lucky if you don't live in NYS!

here in Illinois if its 1995 or older we have no inspections what so ever and i believe the only requirement is if you have straight pipes they have to exit at the rear of the vehicle (giving the exhaust as much pipe as possible to calm down the sound) and if you have a muffler you can pretty much do anything but some local police are more strict than others too
