Working on a 2003 V10 with an odd ticking sound, thought it was it the top end...took it all apart and no problems in the valvetrain.
Took the explorations to the bottom end, connecting rod bearings were a little loose, we replaced those and still have the ticking noise. If the engine is ran with the belt off it still does it, so nothing belt driven.
Took it to a transmission shop...nothing with the flywheel or trans. If anybody has any ideas it would be appreciated, I'm at my wits end.

Its sounds like you probly already replaced the exhaust gaskets but it not an exhaust leak at the manifold or a small crack in the manifold will make a ticking sound.

The injectors like to tick pretty loudly on my truck. I searched for weeks to no avail untill I bought a stethoscope and probed arround. Only to realize that my injectors tick when they operate.
