She doesn't sound good. 1500 to 2500 in neutral and or drive, it knocks a lot. Hoping it was the purge valve but not a chance. Exhaust leak at the manifold?

Figure if it was rod or such it would make the noise throughout the power band?

All other aspects of truck are great. Idles perfect. Get over 8 around town and 10 highway. Oil is clean. She drinks coolant though but I can smell the heater core leak. It's California so I'm not in a rush to peel back the dash.

What was the fix? I have a 1999 V-10 that just started doing the same thing. I changed the DCP Valve, no fix. I'm looking at the flex plate right now. Thanks!

Not sure what the OP found but sure sounds like a rod to me. If your checking one out check the oil for foreign partials. Just rub some between your fingers, if it feel anything but smooth then beware.

V-10 Noise

My noise sounds like valves "floating" at @ 2100 RPM to me. I just had a guy tell me it may be my torque converter, as the noise seems to coming from the bottom end? The truck pulls hard and the noise doesnt start untill shifting or if im real easy on the throttle it will start. On start-up I have a little clatter untill the lifters pump-up. Thanks to you all again for any help!
