A buddy highly recommends the Volant CAI, but the more I have been reading it sounds like the Vararam might be the way to go. Has anybody done installed either one? The Volant appears pretty straight forward and the Vararam might be more difficult. Is the performance of the Vararam worth the extra work?

I'm also worried about the scoops collecting debris. Especially the rain/snow/slushy crap we have around now. Anyone had problems with this?

Vararam is super easy to install. Not sure why its more work? Only thing extra you must do is pull off the engine cover. I love mine, great product. Gave the butt dyno .015 seconds off the 1/4 mile ;)

Cant comment on the third gens but volants fit and finish for the 4rth gen just...well sucks. If you read though the vararam threads here a member has put up some pretty good picks of foul weather driving/ under the hood pics and from them I for one wish I had waited on the vararam. Maybe vararam will offer a trade in deal for unhappy owners like me???

I really struggled with which CAI to get. Thankfully, I waited and then the Vararam came out. I installed mine this week and I really like it. It is a "true" CAI as the hood presses up against the Vararam's rubber gasket creating a seal with the hood closed. If you think about the other CAI's, they pull air from that cut-out in the fender that really doesn't have a good clean source of air to begin with. I went with the recommendations posted by other Members here in selecting Vararam. They provide Great Customer/Sales Service too! :smiley_thumbs_up:

I've had my Volant for a few weeks now and I have no complaints. The install was simple and the fit is perfect on my truck. I didn't notice all this extra power that some people talk about. I haven't had a chance to check the mileage yet. $296 shipped on eBay.

Well a closer inspection of my truck and I noticed the tow hooks, which I thought were factory until now, are DIRECTLY where the ram scoops go for the Vararam. Since the hooks are a big deal for me it appears I will be going with Volant unless anyone has any good ideas about where else I could route the scoops. I refuse to go any lower due to the amount of snow I drive through on a yearly basis.
