well sent my information to you guys and have not heard back. Just picked up my truck from Kings Dodge and was told that they would charge me $950 to repair the truck. I told them I am waiting to hear something from Dodge. On top of that when I went to get the truck they charged me $160 bucks for a diagnostic fee. have sent you guys my number and my email and radio silence. Great customer service.

Joined the forum just to add another 2017 2500 6.4 to the list! Just turned 36,000 miles. Started as a chime when turning ignition (around June) on but would go away within a few seconds or after pressing brake pedal. Then started popping up now and again while driving and now it stays on for long periods of time before flickering on and off repeatedly (Oct).

Seems this should be a recalled part(s) from Ram with the amount of posts I'm finding regarding this issue.

The dealer fixed my 2018 2500 Laramie with 53,000 miles on it Thursday. The final diagnosis was the ABS Control Module wire was rubbing on the Power Steering return line. They showed me the wire it had worn thru and was all corroded. They charged me $400.

I finally got an appointment with my dealer to let them try and solve this intermittent problem. The EVIC display showed Service Antilock Braking System and alternated to Service Electronic Brake System. It would constantly bing and display the ABS light and the Traction Control light. I made an appointment with our local Ram dealer for 7am and when I dropped it off gave them the following “Love Note”.

2017 Ram Display Brake Error = Service Electronic Braking System and Service Antilock Braking System

See the 3 minute video at

I also showed the service rep the vid on my phone.

The video was made on I-45 just north of the Woodlands, Texas.

It seems to happen more often on rough road but had the error on smooth part of highway.

When it happens, the Cruise Control shuts down and the truck icon in the Navigation stops moving on the map.

When they called me to pick the truck up, below was on the print out……

Cause: has code c0020-01, hcu is short to ground on motor and took out abs module

Replaced: 68437098AB Module Anti Lock Brake System

Replaced: 68143491AA Control Anti Lock Brake System

Replaced hcu and abs module, test drove and everything is working properly

They also noted that they did the Recall V44 Tailgate Latch

When I drove the 3500 home the 20+ miles (4 miles on rough road), the problem did not reoccur.I guess we'll see.....

After a few days, it all seems well. I'll have to say that I've never had a bad experience at any dealer and this one was very well handled.

This is the second time this has happened to my 2018 2500. The first time it happened (at 5943 miles, Jan 9, 2020) the EVIC display showed Service Antilock Braking System and alternated to Service Electronic Brake System. It would constantly bing and display the ABS light and the Traction Control light. I made an appointment with our local Ram dealer. When I got to the dealer for my appointment, the dealer found that there was a failure with the HCU / ABS Module. The parts were ordered and a few weeks later (1/29/2020) replaced.
Now about 18 months later - same thing has happened and the EVIC display is showing Service Antilock Braking System and alternating to Service Electronic Brake System. It's constantly binging and displaying the ABS light and the Traction Control light. And I only have 7265 miles on my truck. I made another appointment today (11/8/21) and there are no openings for them to service my truck until the day after Thanksgiving (11/26/21) so I am stuck with not being able to use my truck for more than 3 weeks because the binging is so darn annoying!!!!!
This is ridiculous that RAM can't find a way to fix this because it's OBVIOUSLY an issue!!!

Well, here I am again waiting for Ram to contact me back after contacting them in a private message about 4 days ago. I replaced the ABS module myself and took it to the dealer to have it reflashed. They are now telling me that it is the HCU. Well, now I have to have that replaced. I can say that I have nothing but bad things to say about Ram's customer service right now. They have been nothing but a pain to deal with. They do not want to help their customers fix a known problem with their trucks. I can say that as of right now this will be the last Chrysler product that I ever buy. I will be returning to chevy trucks as soon as possible. Maybe fi they actually do something about it within the next few days I may change my mind but not likely.

I know have the same problem on a 2018 Power Wagon. I am sure it will end up costing $800 or more to repair. The bigger picture is that I also had the same problem on a 2012 Dodge Charger. I also replaced it twice. It got so bad, I had to sell the car. The short was draining the battery.

I can say with certainty that this is my last Dodge. They seem to be using the ABS module as an income source for their dealerships.

Called my dealer and had to wait 2 weeks for appointment, go in today and they say 2 more weeks before they can look at it and have to leave truck there or I lose my spot in line. What a joke. Same issue ABS light and Traction control light. 2018 2500 with 22000 miles

I have a 2018 Ram 2500 SLT diesel with under 37k miles and this exact issue began happening around 36k miles. I thought about removing the fuse, but that won’t turn the annoying alerts off every time I drive over some semi-rough pavement. I also noticed when it’s wet out that also sets it off. Can’t believe this isn’t a recall as it seems like such a common issue. Have a buddy at work that also had the exact issue last year. I don’t feel like dropping over $1k. I may just trade this thing in at this point.

Hello All, A lot of posts regarding this issue. My babied 2018 Ram Crew Cab Diesel Laramie just started happening to me a few days ago. Started the truck up and went right into blinking Service Electronic Braking System with the Traction control and ABS lights flashing. Stopped minutes later it wasn't until I was 15 miles down a smooth road it started back up. I will be calling the dealer to get an appointment for this. I found the TSB# S2005000004 Rev. ABS Pump Motor Control Downloaded the MC-10181550-9999 and will recommend they keep this in mind when they do the diagnosis.

My 2018 Limited 2500 6.7 has been doing the service abs system light on and off on and off intermittently. It stopped for a bit before I was able to take it in. the abs and traction control light is now on all the time. The problem is now that I’m 500 miles from home on a trip I can’t get it in. For what you pay for these trucks and BS problems they have is ridiculous

So here is a question for you all! I have the chance to buy a 2017 Power Wagon with only 8700 miles on it for $51,000. Obviously I would not buy it for that as I would get them down as much as possible since the truck is now branded a Buyback. It’s still brand new and it’s the truck I’ve always wanted. Well, It was a buyback for this same issue. The report said that they cannot replicate the issue and repaired all recalls. It comes with a one year warranty/unlimited mileage. Even if I might have to deal with this in the future do you think it’s still a good buy?

I just ran across this post. My truck is doing the EXACT SAME THING. Intermittent ping and EBS / ABS Service lights. Taking to dealership tomorrow. 2018 Ram 2500 with 13K miles.

Has your problem been resolved since your original post?

Thanks!
How did yours get resolved. My 18 power wagon with 9,000 miles (yes 9) is doing the same thing. Took it in and they said it was the code for the Abs pump. They wanted me to leave it but I couldnt so i scheduled next week. Its my only wheels so i have to wait for it unless they give me wheels. The service girl said "i dont want to order the pump because its expensive and it could be other things". I said i dont give a flyin, better order it because u have the day to fix it. If i have to hear "we have to wait for parts and its torn apart" I will go postal on them.
