Seems like a ton of others are having the same issue. My truck is constantly dinging and flashing “service electronic braking system” and service antilock brake system”. This is getting extremely annoying and it seems to be a very common problem. How is there not a recall on this? I need to get my truck into the dealer to get this handled as quick as possible.

I am having same issue with 2018 2500 diesel with 43,000 miles. I was driving and received service electronic braking system. It would flash every 5-20 seconds. After a few minutes dash said 4 wheel drive disabled. Turned truck off and then truck wouldn’t even turn over. I unhooked batteries for a few minutes and hooked them back up. Truck started but now has check engine light.

Add my truck to the list. I have 2018 tradesman 2500. Bought it in Feb of 2019 and have 21000 miles on it. The ABS light and traction control light flash intermittently some days it is on all of the time other days I can drive for an hour and it does not come on. If I pump the brakes at a stop then it can go on and off. I live in PA so we have yearly inspections. I took it to my local Ram dealership and told them about the problem in November. They said they cleared the codes, that the codes were unusual, and if it comes back on to reschedule. Well, something is wrong. The first time I heard the bells and saw the lights it was when I was towing my camper at about 65 mph. It rang and flashed one time just for a split second. And then did not return for months. I thought it was wierd but nowafter reading through these threads I think this must be the norm for a 2018.

I have the same issues 2018 RAM 2500 6.4 hemi 16k miles, and got tired of the dinging, so pulled the 26 fuse (abs/traction control). Now my truck isn't as safe, but a lot more fun lol. I can spin the rear tires way too easily now.
I took it to a dealership and they couldn't find any codes. This should be a safety recall. I feel sorry for the car I ram into (no pun intended) b/c I no longer have ABS....
Where did you find the list of which fuses cover what? I'm game to do this too. Damn sick of a 6.7L Cummins (2017 2500 diesel) that can't get itself out of 2 inches of snow when parked overnight because of traction control crap. I don't give a rip about ABS. Thanks!

Add me to the list. My 2017 2500 Ram 6.7L Cummins is doing this too. This vehicle (I'm not willing to use the word truck or pickup as it's hardly qualifying as that) has been one pain after another. Warped rotor and caliper issue on one front wheel somewhere around 25K. Tailgate latch recall. Now this BS at 50K? AND, part (HCU) is on back order for 6 weeks or more. I need this vehicle for my business hauling a livestock trailer with animals in it all year round --- including in winter and through muddy/mucky dairies. Thanks Ram for building such a POS. We used to laugh at the Powerstroke guys with all their issues but now, the joke's on us.

This is not good. It may be time to ditch this truck and get a Ford. This will be the second HCU on my 2018 2500 that has less than 60,000 miles on it. The first replacement was done in March of 2021. Dealer says "it can fail on any vehicle" and refuses to acknowledge that this is a known issue. They also are only replacing the HCU, saying "the only codes you have are for the HCU". I don't want to keep a truck that is going to continue to have braking system issues, and I don't want to continue to deal with a dealership service department that won't acknowledge that there is an known issue with this particular vehicle model! It looks like RAM knows there is an issue and that they know replacing the HCU and ABS module together is the solution, they need to fess up and inform their dealers. This is way too expensive of a vehicle to continue to have these issues! On top of it, I'm being told "The part is on backorder. No ETA."... great customer service... NOT!

C0020-01 code here too.

2017 ram 3500, ABS module and HCU was replaced under warranty, truck had only 4000 miles. Here we go again, out of warranty this time. Started intermittent first, its solid now.

Dealership next to me is the biggest rip off, last time I called for differential cover gasket, was over $150,part only.

Would you recommend driving like this or get it fixed asap?

Some questions ...

Do you have Sirius radio subscription? Do you have navigation?

I used to get these errors pop up on my cluster and also was receiving weekly emails saying that my truck had ABS issues as well as the ESC light .... I always scanned the truck myself and never once did those error codes pop up. I used both ALFAOBD and an OBD2 scanner and nothing...

Very long story short, there are false positives that unconnect appears to generate on our trucks to get them in for frivolous repairs ... I know of a tech that works at a chrysler jeep and he himself said that the false positives are being generated and there is nothing wrong with the vehicles ..

I only had sirius radio for the 1 year free, once my subscription ended I no longer had access to the mopar site... I tried making maintenance appointments a few times using their mopar site where it had the full vehicle health report that is only available if you have an active sirius subscription ..

After noticing how many of these emails that my vehicle needed to be brought in immediately for service were being sent to me I called the dealership and of of the managers there said there was no record of any of those messages being sent to my truck or my email lol ..

Since that day I no longer receive these warnings .... but I also don't have the health report that my truck was getting weekly lol ..The manager said it was weird that I was getting these messages anyways because I no longer had sirius radio ... but after that day I no longer have the health report page on their website ..

I believe the tech I know that these are just BS warnings to get us to take our trucks to the dealerships so they can just make money off of us .....

What scanner did you use ? ...

If it's a legit code "YOU" got with a scanner then I would check the ABS connections ... when they lifted my truck I did get that warning a few times and the code as well ... it ended up being that one of the sensors was lose and had some corrosion on the connections ... added some dielectric grease and secured the connections ...

These modules are not failing .... they are generating these warnings and codes on purpose ... look at my comment above to @rhonaldinho012 ... there should honestly be an investigation about this ... once I stopped taking my truck to the dealership and they ended my subscription to sirius, my truck stopped getting these warnings and codes ....

Interesting theory. I have very basic Uconnect unit with no navigation and no Sirius subscription. Never had one. Got it scanned at OReilly first. Same stupid code. Decided to buy scanner at harbor freight ( Bluetooth one, reads pretty good on the phone app) My next step is to check all sensors and clean them. Also ABS and traction control light sometimes disappear when pressing break pedal, when the vehicles is not moving. They come back unfortunately.

The TSB for fixing the C0020-01 code is at: S2005000004 RAM Technical Service Bulletin
Hopefully you only need the HCU and not the ABS module. The TSB lays out the procedure for diagnosis and repair. My truck was fixed with the HCU replacement.

That's good that it fixed your issue ... rare to have trouble free stealership experiences at least for me lol ...

add me to this list. I just posted my case to the 2018 forum.

This almost got us in an accident because it also apparently shuts off the cruise control while driving... on the expressway!

oh and I don't have a Sirius Subscription.

I just spent $1K to get this HCU issue fixed. Before I bought the truck I had it inspected by a RAM dealer who blamed the faults on a battery. The used dealer I bought the truck from put in a new battery per the inspection. Right after I bought it the faults came right back. Finally got it fixed. Spoke to RAM cares and they denied any reimbursement or help. Even denied me to speak to a supervisor. The girl who was assisting was very rude, short and nothing but against me from the get go even after I referenced all the people with same problem, the now government investigation into the problem etc. etc. I tried to DM the RAM cares person from here but since I am new it wont allow. Someone please get in touch with me.
