Save your receipts. This will likely move to a recall, as it is certainly a safety issue. Our failure almost got us into a high speed accident on the expressway. It is only a matter of time until it kills someone else... I now have a case manager and was quoted no parts until JUNE (dealer said 1-2 months). I was told the vehicle is safe to drive in the current condition, but if the ABS or TCS is not working and causes an accident, I feel like that is a lot of liability on the manufacturer.

Pretty shady of the used dealer to clear the codes and replace the battery. How long has it been since you purchased the truck? If it is under a year, you might want to consider getting a MaxCare warranty plan if you are eligible. $100 deductible and extends your factory warranty up to 8yr/125k. My old Rebel had the air suspension fail just outside of warranty, and Ramcares denied my case even after initially accepting it. I don't know how that still isn't a recall... Had my dealer not worked their asses off to get me into this Power Wagon, I wouldn't even be driving a RAM right now.

I just spent $1K to get this HCU issue fixed. Before I bought the truck I had it inspected by a RAM dealer who blamed the faults on a battery. The used dealer I bought the truck from put in a new battery per the inspection. Right after I bought it the faults came right back. Finally got it fixed. Spoke to RAM cares and they denied any reimbursement or help. Even denied me to speak to a supervisor. The girl who was assisting was very rude, short and nothing but against me from the get go even after I referenced all the people with same problem, the now government investigation into the problem etc. etc. I tried to DM the RAM cares person from here but since I am new it wont allow. Someone please get in touch with me.
@ramcares you need to help this person. When are the parts going to be available and when do you expect the parts shortage to be resolved? After three years of restrictions when will the parts be consistently available? Should I be buying an HCU and an ABS module as back-up for when mine fail? I don't want to be waiting months for parts and unable to use my truck. Well, @ramcares, what do you say?

We appreciate you tagging us in this as it is the best way to notify us of emerging issues. At this time, we do not have an ETA for when parts will be available on a regular basis. If you do run into a concern with you truck, we can create a parts expedition case that will assist in getting your repairs done.

Just too update - the dealership let me know they were replacing the ABS module, it was there for 3 weeks. Kept getting the runaround that they were waiting for the ABS module, only to find out all they did was replace the HCU, and the notes were opposite of what they said. Avoid Crown of Chattanooga like the plague. Misrepresentation. See what/if FCA or the dealership do.
Just took mine to crown of Chattanooga, there is not definite fix or parts available. I placed a message and call to Ram Cares actually on hold as we speak

EXACT SAME PROBLEM/TRUCK
No matter what forum concerning this issue you go to, its the EXACT same story from Ram ! Was told by every shop in the area this was such a reoccurring issue, the dealership service dept’s are the only ones making these repairs & they “only”can get the parts. I’ve reached out every possible way I could to Ram, brought to dealership and had to borrow $ to get it fixed. “Not covered under warranty”. I’ve reached out to multiple ppl about this and taking 100’s of screenshots from all the forum/social media platforms. Please feel free to reach out to me to stay updated with my course of action ‼
keep me posted [email protected] I contacted ram cares and am on hold at this time. There is an investigation
NHTSA Action Number: PE22012

Welp... add me to the list. We were driving back from Pittsburg to Louisville and almost home down a hill on the expressway (I-71) when the ABS and Traction Control lights came on and a message to service the trailer braking system popped up. Worst of all the Cruise Control just shut off and we were nearly run over by the semi behind us. Anyways, we got home alright and I started researching the issue which landed me here.

I contacted the dealer and received two different answers as to if it was covered under my warranty (Front Desk said Yes, Service Tech - who was new - said No). The vehicle is a 2017 RAM Rebel that I purchased certified pre-owned and it have 65k miles. Power train warranty is good until Nov of this year and up to 100k miles.

They scheduled me in for mid April for Evaluation.

Update: maybe not...? Drove the Truck today and when started all of the messages and dash warning lights were still on. However, before I even got out of the neighborhood they cleared and the dash warning lights turned off. After that when applying the breaks lightly the ABS would engage on the front left tire. It did that about 3-4 times and then stopped and everything is now operating normally again. Now I'm waiting to see if the issue worked itself out or if it returns. Almost sounds to me like the software encountered a fault condition and eventually reset. Fingers crossed.

This problem can be intermittent. When I first experienced it I would get a beep and the warning would flash very briefly. The warning went off so quickly I could not read what it said. I believe the problem might have been moisture related because it happened when the weather was more humid, and often the problem would go away after the truck had been driven a distance and everything warmed up. It took about three months before the warnings were coming consistently, and even then it was highly unpredictable.

mine had this issue and they pulled the codes at the dealer. as soon as i left, the problem went away. It will keep coming and going until it just remains. schedule your replacement and get on the waiting list now by having them pull the code. It does not actively need to be lit up to have this replaced.

I just had my HCU replaced last week. The replacement that was sent was also bad so they have to order another one dealer > dealer.

Well, I just took a trip of about 600 miles and the ABS and Service Electronic Brake System are going off constantly. Every bump gets us sounds and flashing signs (such a joy:(). I have a 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel with a little over 80K miles and the problem just started. Hopefully, I will be able to get this fixed promptly without having to take out a loan!

I just talked to the dealer today on my truck, parts have been bushed back to August now.

Add mine to the list as well. 2018 3500 Laramie. Only has 12,500 miles on it. Progressively getting worse. I found a used HCU from a 2014 that I am going to try. Ridiculous to have this many issues and parts that are 6 months out or not available at all. Especially with no recall.

Has anyone taken split the HCU and ABS module to see if there is any obvious issue? The issue becoming active only when hitting bumps seems common among a lot of of trucks.
If the truck is throwing the C0020-01 code then follow the procedure in the TSB: S2005000004 RAM Technical Service Bulletin
Hopefully you only need the HCU and not the ABS module. The TSB lays out the procedure for diagnosis and repair. My truck was fixed with the HCU replacement. I thought my problem was related to humidity, but as you say many people have reported a connection to bumps. I also notice the problem was worse shortly after start-up and improved as everything warmed, part of why I concluded moisture might be a factor.

You can add my 2016 Ram 3500 to the list. Started happening today intermittently at 94000 miles.

Has anyone gotten Ram to cover this on vehicles out of warranty?
This is definitely something that should be fixed by the manufacturer! Might be time to get another brand. This is my 3rd Ram and all of them have had numerous problems.
