a lift will almost certainly void your warranty, unless you go with the Mopar 4" and have them install it. Thats if they even still offer it.

To keep the warranty and powertrain intact, I would look into a body lift. This is MUCH cheaper.

in all honesty if you are friendly and nice to your dealer they will warranty anything, i go to my dealership for all services and oil changes and when i told them about the lift kit and tires i was putting on they were like "thats cool please bring it back so we can see it" and i asked them about warranty and they said "as long as you keep servicing it here we will take care of you when and if needed" i personally meet the service manager and he seemed strait edge and had a lifted ram him self

 

They cannot void your warranty unless they can prove that the changes that were done were the cause of the part/parts to fail.
If you have parts(SEMA) that were designed for your exact vehicle,and were professionally installed by someone,then they will usually not try to void your warranty.
If it looks/seems to be from abusing the vehicle,then they might not warranty the broke parts,but it doesn't void your warranty for everything else that is covered.

An ASE certified mechanic is all you need to cover your butt on anything that is designed for your vehicle,with the exception of engine mods like tuners,they will almost always void your warranty because they modify the original perimeters of the ECM/fuel systems.

There are several dealers near me that lift brand new trucks,and sale them with the full warranty,if they can modify those vehicle's,so can you!

 

I tell you one thing.
Modified vehicle. The manufacturer can refuse warranty as long as you use not original parts.
Period.
Reality is, if the issue has nothing to do with it, it's common goodwill that they give you warranty anyway.
Problem: mostly you can see in warranty claim through error memory, customer complaint, tech comment and vehicle history when a part broke by abuse.
For example tire size does not fit to axle ratio. Mostly you will have to replace the hubs a couple times till the axle wores out and it can be that there is an error with the axle regarding the rpm sensir output and speed signal.
I don't like modifications because they're just for the looks but while driving they decrease the performance significant.
The best is, find a vehicle which comes closest to what you want and do the fine tuning. More effective, safe and safes tons of repairs resulting from modifications.
That's the reasin, why some repsir less or more than others. You pay anyway- more for a vehicle u like or for the modifications and repairs.

 

So tomorrow, (May 11, 2013) is the last day of my manufacture 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. I wanted to get the extended Max Care warranty for 5 yr/70,000 miles I saw online (~$1265).

I go to my usual dealership to buy it but the dealership said they can sell it to me at ~$2800, plus $250 b/c I have a 4" lift. I told the guy I can get it online for way cheaper. He said he cannot match it and that's a good deal.

I called the 800# and was put through a lady at Chrysler Warranty that handles the extended warranties. I told the lady I have a 4" inch lift, new wheels and tires. The lady said she will have to call me right back and check with Chrysler. She calls me back within 10 minutes and states Chrysler will NOT sell me an extended warranty b/c I have modified the vehicle.

So my question now is, what and how are you guys getting extended warranties through Chrysler with your lifted trucks? I want a warranty but not through a third party source. I didn't want to hide and not state I have a lifted truck and then something happens and they won't cover anything after I buy the extended warranty.

 

i would go to the dealer you use and talk to them and see what they have to say they are the ones that will be doing the work and putting it on the
warranty if they say they will look after it then go for it

 

Maybe I'll check out another dealer. The original dealer was offering ~$3000 (after the different fees) for 5yrs/75,000 miles for the Max Care with $100 deductible.

 

I was just at my dealership last week asking these questions. They told me that a leveling kit and 35s would be fine. But a 4" lift would void the suspension part of my warranty. They said they get too many jeeps with lifts coming in expecting them to fix broke tie rods. But this might only be my dealer...
They also said I can do a cat back exhaust cold air intake and a tuner and be covered by warranty. They actually suggested getting a tuner when I get bigger tires to calibrate the speedo. Only thing is you have to restore the factory tune before bringing it in or their machine will erase the tune and you will be stuck with a useless handheld and a factory tune.

 

There seems to be alot of mis-information going out here, So lets correct some of that.

First thing is to become familiar with the Magnuson Moss Act.

Now let us address a few things to give us all a bettter understanding.

1: MOPAR does not manufacture ANY lift. They purchase from the aftermarket and rebrand.

2: MOPAR/RAM/Chrysler will NOT warranty any lift, no matter who instals it......but, but, but....someone told me.......my dealer said.......yada yada. The lift will be warrantied by the original manufacturer, not MOPAR. "But I took mine to the dealer and they warrantied it, so your wrong!" No, I am not. Your dealer called the manufacturer and made a claim on your behalf, same as any reputable shop can and the same as you can.

3: The dealer has to install my lift to keep a warranty. LOL, of course they will tell you this. Go look at what your dealers hourly shop rates are! You can install it yourself, have a mechanic install it, or a specialty shop. It doesnt matter as long as it is installed correctly, hey its easy, they even give you these things called instructions.

Can the dealer void my entire warranty? With very few exceptions no. Lets say you throw a lift and large tires on and then you snap a half shaft. Would that be covered, nope. I can directly prove how the aftermarket tires and wheels (more mass, more leverage, larger diameter) directly caused your factory half shaft to break. Now same situation and your fuel pump goes bad.....its covered.

Dont buy what the dealers tell you, find the facts yourself. If the dealer denies warranty coverage then ask them to provide to you in writing the exact reason for the denial, their proof that something you did caused the failure (both written and pictoral) and a contact number for chrysler customer care. "Lift caused failure" does not pass muster, they need to lay out the specifics, down to tourque specs and milimeters, the burden of proof falls on them.


Now, all the yammering above and I will tell you the secret to a happy dealership experience. Get to know the service writer and techs, bring coffee and doghnuts, and most importantly dont go in screaming for them to fix something you know they have no buisness fixing. A personal relationship can get you a long ways.
