i found this description on american muscle
"A catch can helps reduce power robbing engine sludge by diverting "blow-by" (a combination of exhaust gases and oil) into a outside container "catch can" where the contaminated oil is separated from the exhaust gases before they are recycled back into the intake system to be re-burned, thus preventing the used oil from re-enter the system to gum up your engine."

i dont know how accurate that all is

All engines produce some amount of blowby . If blow-by (oily vapor) gets into the combustion chamber during the combustion process , it can cause a number of things . One thing is detonation (ping) a performance robber . A catch can keeps oil vapor from being introduced back into the combustion process . It captures the vapor and converts it back into a solid and retains it in the can . You will need to monitor the amount of oil that your can catches and drain it off as necessary .

You will want the Z bracket, so you may have to wait a bit longer, to receive it. They are currently out of stock, they say it will be before February they will again have them

Just fill in the form, to get what you need, or call them like i did
