I have a 2012 Express with the basic stereo not alpine. No volume control on steering wheel. I just ordered the Pioneer Avic Z130BT. Am I right to say that I need the PAC C2R-CHY4 and antenna adapter?

What did you guys use to cut the plastic on top?

You do have to cut the plastic. I installed the same unit. Yes you have the correct pac adapter. You need the steering wheel control adapter too.
So I just need the PAC adapter and the kit to hold the unit. I think Metra makes one. Do you recommend the kit you use if so what is the model number?

I am very afraid to cut the plastic. Did you cut the top or the bottom and about how much did you cut? Can you tell me what is the model number of the Dremel you used as well as the blade you used on the Dremel? (I will order it from Amazon) It has to be a perfect cut right so it doesn't look sloppy?

The pac adapter you listed is the one I used. The C2R-CHY4. I cut to here. See the red line in the pic.

I used a 1.25 inch cutoff wheel. Like this. 1 inch might be better. I had trouble making the edge clean near the corners because of the size of the wheel. Maybe 1 inch would be better. Just take your time and keep a steady hand. Wear safety glasses!

Oh I see so the plastic you cut you wont actually see once you put the stereo in so it doesn't have to be perfect right?

What are the plastics to the left and to the right of the stereo once installed? Is that the Scosche you bought? On your pictures it looks like the left side is stinking out and the right side is sunk in. What do you suggest?

I was thinking of using this Metra

Right you cant see it anyways. I did mine very neat because i'm anal that way. :)

Yes that's the Scoche brackets you see in mine. I took that pic before I was done. Its even now. Try the Metra and see how it goes. I wasn't happy with all the screwing around I had to to to make the Scoche fit.

Yes you need the antenna adapter too.

Did you connect the (pink) speed signal cable? If you did where did you tap into the speed sensor?

Also did you connect the Orange illumination cable? If so where did you tap into that?

Thanks in advance

The pink on the Pioneer harness goes to the purple/white wire on the pac harness. The orange/white wire on the Pioneer harness goes to the Orange/white on the PAC harness. All of the connections are made between the Pioneer and the PAC harnesses. You dont "tap" into the harness on the body at all. When you are done you should be able to just unplug the main plugs and return the vehicle to stock instantly with no disturbed wires.
