Hi,

I am am new to the Dodge RAM family and got 2014 RAM 1500 Laramie. I frequently go camping in the desert and rocky areas, so the stock tires with 20 inch beautiful rims with the normal clearance is not good for me (my ram doesnt have air suspension). Here are my questions:

1. I am bound by the dealer dictating to buy and install MOPAR 2" or 4" lift. Can I drive with MOPAR lift kit at a speed of 100 KM/h offroad without feeling ups and downs? I used to drive a ford raptor, and I know there is no comparison in off-road capabilities, but I am willing to compromise a little to enjoy the luxurious 2014 RAM.

2. The 2 inch lift kit of MOPAR allows up to 33" tires, and can take smaller rims up to 17 inch. Is this set up good? does anyone have pictures or refer me to a previous thread?

3. I like 35" tires, so has anyone put 35"x12.5 on a 17 inch rims with 2 inch lift kit? This is the most economic option I can think of. 4" lift kit is more expensive and I imagine it will have to change my gear ratio as well.

Help Please !

Lots of guys on here running 35's on a 2" level. Go for it.

33's fit on the stock setup. the stock 20" wheels come with tires which equal 33" So a small 2" leveling kit will give you extra clearance up front and the 33's will fit fine. If you want more sidewall for rough terrain, get a set of the 17's and put 33's on them.

I would stay away from the mopar lifts not because they are bad but because they are way overpriced for what they are. A good option that I went with an my 2013 is a 2in level and a 3in body lift I put 35 inch Attro Trail blades on with just the leveling kit and they are fine but look better with the 3 inch lift and you can't feel any difference from the stock ride.

Thanks for your input.

The dealer here dictates that I have to go for MOPAR lift to avoid warrenty loss. Its pure monopolistic market here and I can't do anything about it.

I got their consent to fit 2 inch Belisten MOPAR shocks with coil springs + 17x9 rims and 35x12.5x17 Micky Thompson ATZ tires without losing warrenty, and they gave assurance that it 35s will not rub.

I dont know how will my new RAM look like so any pictures of this set up will be appreciated. Do you recommend any good company for RIMS (this is the only part that is not monopolized by them).

Regards,
