I use Meguiars gold wash. After I am done washing to prevent water spots I take my Stihl leaf blower and blow off most of the water off then follow up drying with microfiber towels and I go through about 4 big microfiber towels on my truck before it's dry. That's how I prevent water spots and I know it sounds like a lot of work but 45 minutes and I am done.

I'm a big fan of the turtle Wax Ice line. I like the soap, wax, spray detailer, and interior detailer.

I use Turtle Ice car wash on my black truck and use micro fiber towels to dry it off.

I also use the Turtle Ice clay kit with the clay bar, liquid clay cleaner and liquid polish, also use Ice spray wax.

The liquid clay is good in getting off the left over sediments from our crappy water, seems to work better than the clay bar for me. We have extremely hard water and ruins everything

A clay bar will "clean" the surface of your truck and remove any unseen dirt or contamination(tree sap, rail dust etc etc). Make sure you check the surface after you clay to insure the clay did not leave any small scratches on the surface. If you see some scratches, your next step would to be a good polish, to remove the scratches and give the paint the gloss you want. Next step------------take a break and have a beer--------then apply a good sealant. After the sealant then you can apply the wax of your choice. Take another break, have a beer and enjoy your results!!!!! My recommendation for a great auto soap--Meg's 62 or Meg's 00.

To add a visual to Jay's response, I pulled these from Autogeek.net here.

As for soap, my current (affordable) favorite is Meguair's Deep Crystal car wash. Can be had at Walmart or an Auto supply shop, I'd wager.

Wax... I've used a lot of them, haven't found a favorite, per say. The next one I'm going to try is Collinite 845. Seems to have great approval from a number of the guys I hold in high regard here on the Z.

The brand is really up to each person, just make sure that it is soap that is designed for vehicles. Other household soaps can be harsh enough to strip all your wax off.
