Winter tires

I just bought a 2014 ram sport, and it came with 20" tires. I just ordered 17" rims and 285/70/17 Blizzak DM-V1 for the winter. Just wondering if anyone had any experience changing the tires size, and how these tires perform in the winter.

I'm also looking into buying winter tires and 17" rims for my 2014 ram 1500 crew cab. I've had the blizzaks on my SUV and they were great in the snow but not quite as good on ice as my michelin x-ice tires. I have a question though... I am looking at the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 SUV tire and was wondering if it would be ok to use them on my truck. The load range is SL where as the load range on the Hakkapeliitta LT2 is E. If I'm not carrying anything really heavy in the truck, am I ok using the R2? Reason I'm asking is after looking at reviews and info on both tires, the R2 seems to be the better performer on ice. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't know much about tire loads.
