I'm going to have my 318 rebuilt and bored over .30, when this is done, I plan on having headers put on. Since I'm doing this, I guess I need to redo the exhaust.

I'm living in Honduras, so anything I do to the car is legal.

I'm thinking of running the exhaust into a y pipe into my cat, which I will gut. (I'd like to keep it for appearances if I ever take it back to the U.S.
and then running another Y pipe out to duel exhaust with maybe a bullet muffler on each side. I don't want obnoxious loud, but would like a strong sound.

Would the gutted cat act as as an H pipe, or an X pipe, or would this completely counteract the idea of duel exhaust?

Or, if anyone has any better ideas, please advise.

Thanks, I guess what I can do is just pull the cat and if i ever bring it back to the U.S. I can have a couple put on.
