i was wondering if it worth my time to clean up some of the rough spots? already started cleaning some of it up but i am not really getting far quick. hoping to get as much torque out of the 318 magnum as i can.

Polishing will do a little bit to reduce an amount of resistance, however you aren't going to notice any changes. You will have better results by just switching over from a paper element air filter to a synthetic fiber based one. If you really want to feel a change I would get rid of that manifold and go with a manifold that has a lower volume like the ones by Hughes. The stock manifold is mostly for torque, one with a lower volume is focused around HP, so it's your choice. Also the difference between a single plan and dual is very small in the case of stock heads and valves. I would stick with a single plane with this engine because of the layout or profile of the crankshaft and camshaft, during a 720 degree cam rotation two cylinders on one side of the engine are filling so it is important that those cylinders can get enough air so that is why I favor single plane with this engine, if you noticed the performance manifold by Chrysler for these are single plane. But again with a mostly stock engine it won't really make a giantic difference. But it will be noticeable!

i plan on keeping it fairly stock. i can't afford a aftermarket intake. i was mainly just planning on doing the plenum gasket but since i picked up a spare intake for cheap and figure if i modify it i could gain a bit of HP and TQ. after that i was thinking about doing the Switchable IAT Mod and throttle body mod. i figure those mods mixed with a good plenum and new o2 sensor and i should be getting the most out of my engine without spending too much money.

anyone know much about crushed glass or walnut blasting the intake after i get done cleaning up all the rough spots that i can reach?
here is a bit of a updated picture. it don't look like there has been much done but slowly starting to work on the smaller things.

MILD cam!!! You don't want to try and change the ancient PCM if you don't have to.

Solid lifters, & port & polish your heads. Double roller timing chain doesn't hurt, either. That's what I plan on doing with NEXT year's tax refund.

In fact, find a newer 318 Magnum with lower miles in a junk yard, and send THOSE off to be ported/polished/magnafluxed. When they come back, swap 'em right on. That's my game plan.

i am happy with the stock engines performance. i just want to fix things to make it last. now if i can pick up a few HP with it then i will take it.

you will not catch me shelling out $600 for a intake. that is about as much as i paid for the ramcharger. i bought a bag of crushed glass. i haven't tried it yet but from the sounds of things it should work good. i am still working on cleaning up the rough casting. it kind of keeps getting put on the back burner with all the other upgrades i am working on.

I have seen guys modify by cutting a few things off here and there inside the intake. I have been thinking of doing it to my wife's 5.2 Grand Cherokee. Just search Dodge kegger mod on google. It will come up with all sorts of writeups. Assuming that your truck has the same style intake. Here is a link of the writeup on this forum.
