I was int he process of taking the intake off my ram and the first bolt i attempted to take out snapped off. Then the second was just siting in the intake spinning it had broken off at some point. then the very back one on the passenger side was completely missing.

How often does this happen? There was heavy corrosion on the aluminum. I think if i can manage to get the intake off i can use some heat and penetrating oil to get them out hopefully.

How hard do the intakes come off when all the bolts are removed? Do the old gaskets glue them on pretty tight?

Like he said ^ just a little pressure from a screw driver should pry the manifold off. It shouldn't take so much that you have to stand on the screwdriver or anything, but more like a gentle bump on the screwdriver from your hand to break it loose.

As for the broken bolts. Some wd40, some heat, and a bolt extraction kit should get them out. The one I have works great, you drill out a small dimple (the kit tells you what size), then you lightly tap/hammer the extraction bit into the drilled out dimple in the broken bolt, then use a wrench to "loosen" (lefty loosy) the extraction bit while applying pressure down on it. As you turn the bit it bites into the broken bolt where you drilled the dimple. I've used it probably 10 times and has worked every time except the last time where the bit broke in half! lol

Is the intake off?
If so use ur vice grips and blaster. Mine were rusty and did not want to move at first.
I wish i would have taken my time when I did mine because i tried a stud removal tool and snapped the stud flush with the block. Had to drill out old stud n tap. But the other two i took my TIME and they broke free.

I have been letting it sit in PB blaster for the past 4 days and prying on it with a 3 foot pry bar. The bolts are broken off flush with the manifold and the PB blaster cant penetrate it.

This truck has been nothing but problems since i bought it. I could get the intake off with a dremel and buy a used intake and take the heads to a machine shop to have the bolts drilled out properly. But i have had it with this truck its a money pit with 85K on it its headed for the scrap yard. I already feel stupid for putting as much time and money into this truck when it just keeps letting me down. A Toyota will be replacing it.

^oh no! Don't give in to the dark side! It's so tempting but once they suck you in it's HELL!!!

Once you get the intake off it should be easy. Vice grips on the protruding studs will get them out.

In all seriousness, I've seen some friends with tacoma's, tundra's, and camry's, and they were all very expensive vehicles (ripp off IMO) and they all have major problems (camshaft's shearing in half, rear differential and axle problems, cracked engine blocks, etc...). They are all newer vehicles, for sure under 50k miles. Probably more like 10,000 miles.

All manufacturers have issues for sure, but from what I've seen toyota's are way overpriced and are extremely unreliable and poorly designed.

I paid less for my quad cab ram with v8 than my friend did for his camry, and another friend with his tacoma. That's crazy...not to mention all the issues they have.
