What gears do you have? Have you put bigger tires on the truck? I know my 2500 which had 3.55 gears had shifting issues at about that same point because its right there between the high end of the lower gear and the low end of the higher gear, causing the tranny to "hunt" for the right gear.
There are a couple of fixes, the most reliable being a shift kit.

 

I have 3.92 gears, and the all terrain tires that come with the Outdoorsman, so factory size tires.

 

I'll see if I notice it next time I'm in my truck, I have the same gears and tires. Does it do it when you select 4th or 5th gear?

 

I have the selector in 5th gear to avoid the 4 cylinder deal.

 

My truck also does this, both my bros have 2011 outdoorsman's and they also do the same thing. I am wondering if it is somehow related to the star case out for the torque converter? Is it possible it could be at the point where in locks/unlocks constantly?

 

It doesn't have anything to do with the torque converter, I had the surge before and after. Mine doesn't surge too bad though, it does it right around the time it drops down a gear. I have the same gears in mine too with stock tires.

 

Mine does it...And does the tranny confused shift too when passing (when I floor it)...
