2018 Ram 2500 6.7L diesel, Mega Cab 4x4 (Lone-Star) with 11,000 miles. The reason for the low mileage is I bought the truck in July of 2019. My ABS dash light and traction control light started coming on about two months ago, it is intermittent, sometimes it does not come on for several miles and sometimes it comes on as soon as I roll out my drive-way.

I bought an Autel MaxiCOM MK808 tablet to see what is going on with my truck. I had to buy the Chrysler 12+8 pin pig-tale cable in order to scan the system, the data link connector cable that comes with the tablet will not work with the truck. After hooking up the 12 + 8 pin connectors and running the scan, I did not get any DTCs, I even did a live scan driving around on the roads for a few miles and got nothing.

If anyone out there with same truck and same issues, please let me know what the fix is.

There is another thread in the 2017 section.. Warnings About Service Electronic Brake System I have the same issue and just pulled the the number 26 fuse so it stops dinging all the time. I no longer have traction control or ABS, so it's not a safe thing to do.
What other affect happen To your truck after removing your fuse? My truck is doing the same thing and the beeping noise is driving my crazy. I took the truck to dodge twice to change my Abs module. And my light and beeping noise are still Coming on.

Just dropped my 2018, 2500 tradesmen only 24320 miles, in for Traction control light, ABS/EBS lights come on. Looks like there is a problem with the modules and a pump sensor. Per the code we will see. I have seen there are several others having the same problem. No recall since they claim it is not a safety issue.

My 2018 2500 Laramie Mega Cab gasser came on last week after I had to put it in 4wd to back the trailer up into the camping spot because of the wet grass. I checked the seating of the focus and disconnected the battery for ten minutes like someone else on the sight mentioned and it stopped until I had to put it in 4wd again when I was putting it into storage and it started again. Got it into the dealer yesterday and they said the hcu had to be replaced. Coincidence or timing because that wasn't the first time the truck had to go into 4wd to move a trailer.

My 2018 ram 2500 did all the above, under warranty. They replaced the pump. Now about 13000 miles later, now out of warranty, it's doing it again. They said bring it in for a diagnostic. Yea, that's easy money for them. If it's the pump again, it has a two year warranty, I will have to pay labor and diagnostic. Not quite sure why this is not a safety issue. 🤔 Does the abs not protect you from skidding out of control? As many owners complaining about the same issue, why is there not a recall? Oh yes, money!

I bought an ‘18 3500 with 52k miles a few months ago from a private party. The abs hcu was replaced just shy of two years ago under the factory warranty. I have that paperwork. It has now failed again. Dealer is saying there’s no warranty at all, as warranty for any repairs under factory expires at the same time. What information do you have that the part itself has a two year warranty? What was the outcome of your situation?

Change your tipm and get the new one flashed. Should solve your problem. Dealer has to install it but order it yourself. There's a sight on ebay I send everyone to that sells refurbished ones. Haven't had an issue with them, cannot buy new ones so don't waste your time, they have a core charge so send them your old one and you'll save some money.

Same issue here at 39,000 miles - 2018 RAM 2500 6.4L (purchased in 2019), intermittent ABS / traction control light and dinging! 9/19/2022 my dealership diagnosed it as the ABS / hydraulic control unit. $1,100 later I have my truck back. Sure seems like this is a major problem that should be a recall.

I have had similar problems 2018 2500 6.7 Laramie 28,500 miles, stuff staying on windshield wipers on, dash lights flashing battery low listening to radio short time needing jump to start service electronic breaks system, traction control I believe I have had it all over the last 2000 miles I have service appointment on Monday will find out but common denominator is hcu, or brake unit short. I do have a draw on one of the batteries I found out but alternator charges batteries are good except for that draw which I suspect is related to the break system either way i believe it is something electronic which is above my pay grade. I suspect 1000-1500 bucks will tell me what the problem is so meanwhile I joined a class action suit to help me feel better this is a common happening with dodge trucks and they knew it would happen I have read.

How do you get on the class action suit. This is ridiculous that everyone is having the same issue.

look up electronic break syatem or class action suit I believe this is how i got there, my dealer in Flagstaff did not find any problem i picked the tuck on day 3 drove home and it appeared for me to check electronic break system the dash blacked out then normal couldn't get to repeat. I will talk to other dealers to see if they are familiar with problem

My 2018 Power Wagon has abs off and on. Dealership says needs a HCU and they are backordered and have no ETA. The so called mechanic should be fired because I wanted them to check for a bad wire and all he could do was read the code. Why isn’t RamCares taking care of this problem before someone dies??? They know there’s a defective HCU and that’s probably why you can’t find them

I have the same problem with my 2018 Ram 2500. Dealer says it’s covered under extended warranty and ordered the ABS control module, but there is no ETA. It seems from reading these posts that there is no actual reliable fix. The truck was very expensive, and only has 13,500 miles. How can we submit complaints? NTSC?

I contacted Ram Customer Assistance and got a cal back today with a case number. Matt admitted that he is working another case with the same problem. Apparently he’s in contact with the dealer, Cardinale Way, Santa Ros, CA to coordinate with them on part order expedition. I asked him if the system is being redesigne. He didn’t know, but will ask. I feel like a sucker, but will give them a chance.

NHTSA opened an investigation into this matter on November 28, 2022: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/inv/2022/INOA-PE22012-9925.PDF I found two articles on the investigation: Heavy Duty RAM Trucks Under Investigation For Braking Performance Loss | Carscoops and Ram HD Pickup Brake Failures Being Investigated By NHTSA
What also is interesting about this is that the 2012 through 2018 models all apparently use the same HCU, but only the 2017 and 2018's seem to have the problem. Also shows it is important to file a complaint with NHTSA if you experience this failure. The complaints appear to have lead to the investigation.

Likely the problem is not the ABS module but the ABS Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). The dealer needs to pull up the TSB for the fix. Ram recommends replacing the HCU first, and if the C0020-01 code shows after the replacement to then replace the ABS Module. They explain it in a TSB from 2020: S2005000004 RAM Technical Service Bulletin
On my truck they followed this procedure and the ABS module did not need replacing. No code after the HCU was replaced and the ABS module did not need replacement According to the TSB the ABS Module is on restricted supply, and up until the middle of the year the HCU's could be had easily, but since the new version came out they are hard to get.

File a complaint with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration - the more of us that file complaints to more likely there will be an investigation. 2019-2022 have a recall for the exact issue: Report a Safety Problem | NHTSA
Reported it today to NHTSA. This is the second time I have had this issue. The first time the HCU went bad was in July of 21 when the truck had 29K on it. The dealership replaced it under warranty, after i provided them with video proof of the dash displaying the codes. The Diagnostics showed codes C006A-54, C2212-00 and C220-00 being thrown. Driving yesterday started to get the same warning lights on the dash again as before. Took it back to the dealership this morning, and they told me it would be around 2600 bucks to fix as it is not under warranty anymore. My current mileage is 42K. So the replacement unit lasted ~20 months and 13K miles, not a good track record. I have called Mopar Cares to see if they will assist. I will post updates.

Thanks for the info @RaeDawg submitted my complaint as well. Just had my abs module replaced after waiting 2 months for the part. Made it 15 miles before it started acting up again.

The dealer offered me an option to just pay a $200 deductible for the first repair and they would take the issue up with Ram. Not sure how that works or if it will help anyone.

Find out if the dealer followed the procedure in the RAM TSB: S2005000004 RAM Technical Service Bulletin According to the recommended procedures, if you are throwing the C0020-01 code then they should replace the HCU first and if the problem is still present, then replace the ABS module. Last I heard the HCU is a new model and has been on back order, but was supposed to be available about now. I would not be surprised if the dealer replaced the ABS module hoping that would fix the problem because the HCU is not available. In my own case the ABS module was fine but the HCU was bad, but that was last year and mine was replaced with the old model. Apparently I should not be surprised to see it go bad again.

According to the invoice I had code
C2200-49 and they just replaced the ABS module. What's really strange is it seems to be getting better the more I drive. Still flashing lights and alarms over some bumps but it used to alarm whenever I pushed the brake to put it in drive.

Has to be lose electrical connection, is that what the HCU replacement really resolves?

Information I found says the C2200-49 code is for an internal electronic error in the ABS module. Has the truck been scanned for codes since the repair? The dealer that did the repair should confirm there is not a problem with the replacement ABS module, or the installation. Even new parts (especially electrical parts) can be defective.

@RaeDawg @ramcares The attached picture is of the work order from the Ram Dealership noting the melting issue. FYSA hope this helps anyone else out there with the same issues. This is from the first work order 11K miles ago when the truck had 29,983 miles on it from July 22, 2021, I dont have a new work order yet, just the diagnostics from the Dealer as I have not agreed to let them fix it yet hoping @ramcares can assist. At 14 months later and only an additional 11K in miles, this should not be happening again, let alone the first time. I will check on lead times as well for the parts when i head back up to the dealership today to get a new print out of the codes.

Mine is doing the same thing. My dealer says most of the time it's a two part fix.
First the pump is replaced and IF the ABS light continues comes on again it's a module problem. This is a terrible inherent problem that Ram needs to address. This is beginning to sound like a class action to me. I have the 6.4 liter Hemi, 4WD, extended bed.
