I wanted to start a new thread on the 5W-20 and 5W-30 oil question(s), but specifically for the 5.7 Hemi.
This was prompted by the following in my 2015 RAM owners manual, pages 767-768This is the same truck and engine, but used in heavy operating conditions.

I change my oil every 6 months or 6,000 miles and feel comfortable with the 5W-20 when changed that often. But this note in the manual makes me comfortable with using 5W-30 if somebody wants to for their use. And I may use the 5W-30 in my next oil change since I tow 8,000# often, even though that is a combined weight of only 13,000#

What do you think? Any other info on this specific use with the 5.7 Hemi?
Mine is a 2013 5.7 liter Hemi and I've been using 5W-30 since I got it at 12000 miles. It now has 180,000 miles and never a problem. I'm not about to switch to 5W-20 at this point especially since I've never had any problem. It still doesn't use a drop of oil between oil changes. This truck is used for light duty hauling and personal use and runs like new.
