Adding amp to factory radio

have a 2015 RAM 1500 quad cab. I'm considering upgrading the sound system as I've done in the past. I had 2 jl w3 10's in a ported fox Acoustics box in my old 2004 Dodge truck. I don't want to lose all storage space again so I think I want a single Sundown SA 12 in a ported Fox Acoustics box under the rear seat. My problem is figuring out how to integrate with the factory u-connect radio. It's not like the old days where I just easily replaced the headunit. I think the Sundown SAE 1100.5 would be the perfect 5 channel amp to go with, as I'd like to ugrade door speakers as well. I known AudioControl makes line output converters and DSP's to integrate with OEM headunits. What are y'all using? I'm not trying to get crazy, just want it to sound pretty good, and pound hard when I get in the mood for that.

You don’t mention what radio is in your truck now.

You can still replace the head unit, you just have to make sure it’s idatalink compatible and to use the idatalink so you don’t loose any functionality.

As far as the door speakers go the JBL Club series really perform well. I used those to replace the stock speakers in my truck this past summer. I am very happy with them. They actually make the stock head unit sound good. I have just the six speaker setup in my truck and they put out good bass. They still need a sub to finish out the sound, but the difference between them and the oem speakers are night and day.

I used the AudioControl d6.1200 and it works great. Unlimited amounts of tuning, and excellent sound quality paired with my Focals and Kicker 10s.

I second the Audio Control Amps with the built in DSP. I went with the D-4.800 and used a separate sub amp. The signal that comes from the factory unit is in need of serious help, and a regular high level converter won't work. You also opt for a separate DSP and amp combo, but you'd end up spending more on equipment unless you are buying cheap stuff. Good luck with the build..
