I just my old 2005 3500 with this 2018 2500. The truck has the coil spring suspension and I was wondering if I need to install extra air suspensions. I haven’t towed anything with it yet other than a small cargo trailer. We have a new RV that we will be towing with this truck. The tongue weight is 952 lbs and the CCC is 1898Lbs. I also carry a lot of tools for construction with me. I have been looking at the Air Lift and Firestone kits but would really appreciate some more input.

TIA

The air suspension will definitely help with squatting and provide a balance ride when towing.

My 2011 RAM 2500 Longhorn has the 5000 lb rating Airlift Air Suspension System.

I added Firestone air springs to a SUV to raise the rear 2 inches when towing my RV trailer and they worked great. But the SUV had soft rear springs to begin with so needed help for the 450 lb trailer tongue weight. The only downside is that the air springs tend to seep air so had to check them every day when towing.

I recently hooked up this same trailer to my 2500 for the first time and the receiver only settled a 1/2 inch. So your 952 lb tongue weight will weigh down my 2500 about 1 inch or so. That's hardly noticeable. So with your full load (equipment + trailer) how much is your 2500 sagging?

I have a 2018 2500 and tow a 38 ft TT. With the weight distribution hitch set up right the truck stays level. That's with 4 coolers with ice and drinks as well as a couple of 20lb propane cylinders. Your cargo is going to weigh a lot more but I would think if the hitch is set up right you shouldn't see much more sag then you do now.
