Amp and subwoofer

As we all know, the OEM sub doesn't hit very hard. After trying to sell my old radio out of my old car unsuccessfully, I decided to use the amp and subwoofer for the Ram. So, I ordered a PAC SOEM-T LOC ($15) and an Atrend BBox 12" enclosure ($60). Here are the results. Sounds great and pounds just as good as my old 14"x14" enclosure.

PowerZone Crunch PZA700.2 amp fits perfectly on the floor behind the 40% cushion. Don't even have to lag it down. The cushion snugs right up against it.

PAC SOEM-T line out converter. Still need to trim some speaker wire.

Rockford Fosgate R2D2 12" and Atrend BBox enclosure. Had to rotate the sub as you see it since that was the only way it would sit flush. The 12" is tight and a sub with a larger footprint will not fit.

Grills leave marks on the underside of the cushion. No biggy.

Looking good... seat closes ok

Looking good. This gives me hope now. I have a JL Audio XD 600/1 amp and a JL Audio 13TW5 sub that only needs a mounting depth of 2" to be sufficient.

So I think I will head on over to Amazon now.

Edit: searched Amazon and no luck with finding the box for a 2012 CC. Can you provide a link to yours please.

Thanks

No, on the floor behind the left rear seat. That is the first picture. The seat cushion is up. Like I said it's just sitting there. When the seat is down it snugs right up against the amp to keep it from moving around.

It is an easy setup to get a lot more thump from the sub if that's what you desire.

I had the box shipped to a US address.

looks good man! I have 2 12" alpine type E in the same enclosure and a 1200 watt amp under the drivers seat. Turns heads for sure!

Nice, do you have a plan on how your going to mount your amp to the back wall ?

I saw some guy made brackets so he did not drill any holes, this is my biggest puzzle at the moment until I actually take the seat out and see what's behind there.

Doing it this Saturday I'll take a bunch of pictures so you can see what to come up with. I'm hopping I don't run into anything unexpected. I already installed the PAC and have the RCA and amp wire connected ready to be strung along. I'm worried that the install kit didn't come with enough wire to run to the rear wall.

Yep, click click PAC installed super easy. Plus I also have a lock pick so I did not have to remove the radio. If you don't have the lock pick you will have to pull the radio which is no big deal. The harest part it removing the center console ring with out breaking it. But still super easy once you realize how it is held in place.

Great!
I do have the MyGig LockPick (from Sonic) and waiting on the PAC (CHY23)
I have yet to install the LockPick and I have had it for 3 weeks now. Just pure laziness...LOL!
I'm guessing it is not hard to do? just get the radio (Alpine) out and plug it in behind Head Unit....?

I also read that the PAC works better plugged after the LockPick vs the PAC and LockPick after it as it will not work this way.

Why did you have the remove the center console ring? I'm assuming you are referring to the chrome ring around the shifter?

I installed my lockpick right away but I have used just about every time I enter the truck especially now. Now, I only drive to head back to Ottawa and then back to Toronto.

Yes the Pac has to go after the lock pick or else the lock pick will not work.

That's the ring in the center console, I always get nervous with chrome pieces they usually break the easiest.

Would you say time wise on install is under 30mins for the Lockpick? if so, I will do it after work
Where did you mount or place the lockpick unit? behind the head unit on by the shifter?

The chrome trim is held by clips all around right? 2 on each side?

I would say even less than that maybe 10 minutes but since it is your first time about 30 minutes would sound about right.

The ring is held in my tabs with teeth in the thread below they explain how to take it apart forget the kick panel part :)

They say just pry up on the ring instead use something that will not scratch slide along the ring until you find a tab in the corner. Then push in 90 degrees in toward the shifter to put the tab inwards at the same time pry up. After you get it out it will make more sense. There are 10 tabs 3 front back and 2 along the sides. But it's the rear corners and the rear center tabs that are the most snug in mine.

The wires are really long for the lockpick I just let mine hang and sit on the floor next to the shifter. It hasn't made a noise since I installed it. Also there is a panel that easily pops out on the side of the console where it meets the dash near the gas pedal. I ran my RCA's to there until I was ready to install, in hopes that I will be able to run the cable under the carpet from there :)

Hey, thanks for the link!
That will help tremendously! Im sure it will take me 30mins at most, but maybe 10

When I first installed my headlights it took me 3 hours to wire everything up.
Man, now I can do the install in under 30 mins from removal and putting everything back together, so yea, I know what you mean.

I will install this tonight as I hate not being able to play with the Navi in drive as I need to enter an address. But I have found quick and precise ways to use voice command
