Last June I purchased our fourth Ram truck, a lightly used 2013 Ram 1500 Crew Cab 6’4” bed Laramie Longhorn with only 48,500 miles on the clock. Well, after adding a color matched high rise ARE MX cap, and a full Bedrug, I though I had better update the maps on the navigation system. It was then that I found out that the truck had originated in Canada and that explained the lack of the ”Assist” and “911” buttons on the mirror. Apparently they do not have UCONNECT in Canada so the system, RA4 radio and navigation, has never been updated. I spoke with a Chrysler customer service rep and basically they said that I would have to take it to a dealer to have it ”officially” brought back into the US. Well, I have ALL of our Ram trucks serviced at a CDJR dealer and they tried everything they could but still no luck in getting the truck and system to be officially recognized as being in the US. This got me thinking, I know that Infortainment.com sells updated 8.4 RA4 radios systems with built in UCONNECT, so, if I purchased one of these systems from them do you think that the UCONNECT would then work since the system uses the standard Sirius Radio/GPS antenna to downlink radio and navigation firmware updates?

I checked a year back or so on updating the map alone on the boss's Durango. My cost was going to be around $350 at the "family" rate as I had a connection with the dealer. I said forget it I can buy a Garmin for less with lifetime maps. But I would call FCA customer service. I dont see why they should not be able to update the software, unless those radios have some kind of "block" built into them.
