I'm looking at a few left over club cabs and crew cab 15's online but other than price I don't see much of a difference? Both are Big Horn models. Whats the difference? A 1500 crew cab 4x4 left over 15 is down to about $28k while the crew cab 15s are about $32k.

On the "standard" models, the Quad Cab has a 6'6" bed and the Crew Cab has a 5'6" bed. This is the major difference between the 2 trucks as well as the larger interior in the Crew Cab. I'm extremely surprised you are finding both the models you are looking at as having the same sized beds. Typically, the Crew Cab takes a special order to get the 6'6" bed. I recommend you take another look at bed sizes on the trucks you're finding, you may find different bed sizes as I'd expect.

Then there is the obvious, the cab space! I went from a RAM quad cab, to a Durango, now back in a RAM to a crew cab. I would highly recommend a crew if you can swing it. The under seat storage, leg space and in floor storage bins are nice. Especiialy if you have children.

The difference is small enough to negotiate. If there is a difference take a look at the window sticker. One could have upgraded gears, window tint, drop in bedliner, etc. That all adds up. I think our dealerships in town charge $999 for tint and a drop in bedliner. Insane!!!!

If I remember correctly. The cab difference is 9". The quad has smaller bench, so it's not exactly 9" of leg room difference.

I wouldn't want to put an adult in the rear of a quad cab for extended periods of time.

A crew cab, I can have a hockey game on the floor and if I fold up the bench, I can have a football game. There is lots of room.

Most crew cabs have the 5'7" box while quads have a standard 6'4" box. But a 6'4" box is available for crew cabs--but that's more of an exception then the rule.

The quad cab is smaller in the back seat. I don't really haul people much, either tools or my lab. I don't know if it's that uncomfortable in the back. I don't sit back there because I bought it.You should have a easier time finding crew cabs. There selling them like there a family suv.

My thoughts when it came to bed length and cab size was this:

You can always drop the tailgate and strap stuff in, you can never get more room in the cab.

Sure I could've gotten a crew cab with a 6'4" bed, but I was also trying to fit mine into a garage. I think I could fit it if I moved the crap behind my truck but it is a tight fit, I back in so I can use the camera to get the bumper right up to the stuff piled up behind it.

All the comments are correct.

For me, I don't haul people in the back seat of my truck, and I Just haul "stuff " in the cab back to keep dry and secure. I need the 6.5 bed, and with this configuration your wheelbase and turning radius is not too bad.

If you get the crew cab with 6.5 bed, you also suffer a longer wheelbase and larger turning radius. The crew with the 5 foot + bed has the same wheel base as the quad.

There's just the 2 of us 99% of the time and we use our Ram primarily to tow our travel trailer. For us, it was a no brainer, we needed a longer bed for "stuff" as we take off on RV trips that last for 3-5 months at a time. If we still hauled our kids around, like the "good ole days", a crew cab would have been our choice/compromise. I guess that's why they make both configurations and aren't we glad they do!

Thank you all for your responses. I made the mistake of buying a 14 Ram Express 4x2 when I thought I would not need the extra interior space. The truck has been great in all ways except when I need to haul the dogs around with me. I wish I could get a long bed (i haul a 14'6" Hobie tandem kayak down to the lake frequently) without having to go to a 2500.

I was unaware of the bed size differences so thank you all very much for answering my questions!

I bought the quad cab for the longer bed because my truck is used primarily for work/business not hauling kids and groceries.

My kids are pretty much grown up at this point (college/HS) so they're not in my truck much anyway. There's always their mothers SUV for family trips. On occasion when they do use the back quad seat they deal with it and if they start complaining too much, I just tell 'em to suck it up and shut up! :158:

Hell, they're spoiled rotten anyway for everything else so I don't care if they don't like my back seat! I can remember before seat belt laws laying out on the back dash of an early 70s Dodge Polara, while piled in with my 4 siblings. The good ole days, lol. :box:

The Crew cab is a limo in the back. No kidding, it has more rear leg room than any luxury full size SUV. Having said that, the Quad cab will work for those occasional four passenger uses. I had a quad cab and this time I have a crew cab with the 6.6' box. It's the best of all worlds in having a full size luxury pick-up. I've always had a full-size truck in about every configuration in the past but this particular configuration blows them all the way in the amount of storage and things I can haul inside and outside of the pickup truck.

The crew cab is significantly more roomy in the back. I felt cramped sitting in a quad cab at the dealership, but feels like a living room in crew cab. The crew cab has more leg room and more space then our Grand Caravan does. It seems like a TARDIS "bigger on the inside"

I also didn't want to compromise on a short bed, so I have the best of both worlds - a crew cab with the 6'4" bed. I know that option isn't available on the lower trims, but it is nice. Turning radius isn't that much different the the short bed in my opinion. I live in the suburbs and have no difficulty getting around in it.

The crew has way more rear room than most any vehicle because all those big suvs and vans have third row seats which make all the rest more cramped. The 5.7 bed is fine if i wanted a work truck id buy a full crew with long bed but i wanted a nice roomy leisure vehicle, was looking at big suvs but they all had the cramped rear, bought my crew, added a ARE hard bed cover and its like having a big roomy suv with a giant trunk.
