I had this same question when I owned my 2006 4.7L Ram. Maybe I can shed a little light for you.

Powertech is simply an advertising name given to an entire family of Chrysler engines, not just the 4.7L. You can read about it here if you would like although please note that I believe there is at least one significant mistake contained on this page (see below).

More importantly, the specs on the 4.7L are as follows. The 4.7L engine in 2002-2007 Rams was rated at 235hp/295tq. The 4.7L in 2008-up Rams featured a higher compression ratio and better flow and was rated at 295hp/330tq.

The 4.7L high output engine was produced from 2002 to 2007 and was rated at 265hp/330tq. The Wikipedia article linked above indicates that this engine was used in Dodge Ram trucks, however, this is where I believe that article is mistaken. I have yet to see any reference to a Ram equipped with the 4.7L HO engine anywhere else. Every single photo of the 4.7L HO engine shows it clearly stating "HIGH OUTPUT" or "H.O." on the intake resonator and I have yet to see one of these in a Ram. Also, the Wikipedia article for the Dodge Ram does not mention the 4.7L HO engine or list those power numbers being made by any Ram truck. Even more confusing is the fact that the Wikipedia article on the Powertech engines labels the high output engine as the 4.7L High Output/Magnum. I believe this to be incorrect as well. The 4.7L engines in the Rams were often referred to as the "Next Generation Magnum". This too was simply an advertising/marketing ploy and from what I can tell, "Magnum" did not apparently indicate that the engine was a high output version. I obtained the build sheet for my 2006 4.7L Ram from Chrysler (which had "Magnum" stamped into the resonator) and it did not indicate the high output engine.

So in summary, it's my belief (until someone shows me otherwise) that the 4.7L HO never came in any Ram and therefore you either have the less powerful first gen 4.7 or the stouter second gen 4.7 depending on your model year. Hope this helps!!

Good info, That being said, the 2010-2013 Ram 1500 with the 4.7l engine has the following specs. They are no longer available on the 2014's

310-hp, 4.7-liter V-8, iron block/aluminum cylinder heads, single overhead camshaft, two valves per cylinder, 330 pounds-feet of torque

Ahhh, yes, you are correct. I got my numbers confused there. I have edited my original post to reflect the correct horsepower number for the 2008-up 4.7L. Thanks for catching it.
