Quick question ...... can I place a 2 amp trickle charger on my 2013's battery without disconnecting the battery ?

Bear with me for a second. I have 4 vehicles and my Ram is an occasional driver. I got involved with an insurance discount program that involves placing a remote reader (Zubie) into my OBD port for 90 days. After about a week of no driving the Zubie knocks the battery down a little. I placed a 2 amp trickle charger on the battery and then noticed that the dash display will light up about once every minute and go out after 10 seconds or so. There is also an accompanying barely audible chime noise. It continues cycling in this manner until the battery is fully charged and the charger is removed.

Am I screwing anything up ?

FWIW, page 806 in the 2016 RAM owners manual, and page 138 & 354 of the 2016 Diesel Supplement says;

If a “fast charger” is used while the battery
is in vehicle, disconnect both vehicle battery cables
before connecting the charger to the battery.

A trickle-charger is NOT a fast charger. What your doing seems safe to me. :4-dontknow:

I'd probably still disconnect it to be safe
