Emergency Brake Light

First off the truck in question is a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Quad-Cab/Short Bed 4x2 Cummins 5.9L SLT with Automatic transmission and remote keyless entry and the speed sensitive locks.

The problem; After removing my instrument cluster to replace a burnt out background illumination bulb I then lost my Emergency Brake light bulb, the one that lights up to tell you that you have the Emergency/Park Brake on. I know that bulb is still good because it lights up when you first turn on the key during the self-test phase. Checked codes, did the instrument cluster reset procedure where you hold in on the trip reset button while turning on the key. Checked for codes with an OBDII reader (there was none but I told it to clear codes anyway). Finally I even tried the cluster out of an almost identical 2005 model that we have, same problem with that cluster (though it works when put back in the 2005). I also reached up and used my finger to manually make sure the little spring contact on the actual parking brake assembly was making contact and that the plug was still plugged in, the plug was plugged in and manually holding the contact closed did not make the light come on.

I'm stumped.

Anyone have any clues or suggestions why my emergency/parking brake light has quit working, assuming related (somehow, though don't see how) to me removing the cluster just to replace an un-related burnt out background bulb which works fine now that I replaced it.

INDICATOR ILLUMINATES DURING BULB TEST, BUT DOES NOT WHEN PARK BRAKE APPLIED

1.Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable. Disconnect the body wire harness connector for the park brake switch from the switch terminal. Apply the parking brake. Check for continuity between the park brake switch terminal and a good ground. There should be continuity. If OK, go to Step 2. If not OK, replace the faulty park brake switch.

2.Disconnect the instrument panel wire harness connector (Connector C1) for the instrument cluster from the cluster connector receptacle. Check for continuity between the park brake switch sense circuit cavities of the body wire harness connector for the park brake switch and the instrument panel wire harness connector for the instrument cluster. There should be continuity. If not OK, repair the open park brake switch sense circuit between the park brake switch and the instrument cluster as required.
