Hi I'm new here .I have a 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5.7. The miles are 58979. I noticed antifreeze leaking at the front side of head. Not not once did it get hot. My question is do I need to replace both head gaskets. Also what cause this??? Thank you all ...

It is a factory defect. I had the problem at about the same mileage with my Chevy truck and made sure to by aftermarket gaskets and not the GM OEM ones for the repair. My brother had the head gasket on his Toyota truck go at 105,000 miles and Toyota told him it was a factory defect and they rebuilt his engine and gave him a 10K warranty on it. He put another 200K miles on the engine and then sold the truck as the body rust from the salted roads was severe.

Something to ponder, but the camshafts in these 5.7/6.4 Hemi engines are not billet core, they are cast iron and have delamination problems with induction hardening eventually causing lifter failure.

If you're digging heads off at 60k miles, my suggestion would be to inspect all lifters and have a camshaft ready if there is evidence of delamination on the rollers. I'll be making a video shortly explaining since this has become rampant online and misinformation is causing repeat labor.
