Wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

I was heading to work the other morning and suddenly the headlights went out. I switched to high beams but they went out when I let go of the lever. Then the lights came back on. Friday moring nothing happened but this morning it happened again. This time I just ppushed the switch in and back out and all was good again. I'm thinking headlight switch but I'd like to hear if anyone else has had this happen before I take the switch out for nothing.

Hi Anchorclanker,
Havent had this problem om my ram; however did on a ford pu I had and I also thought was switch when it actually waas a wire. I concur the headlight switch is a good starting point or maybe the connection also.
Hope this helps

Had you been driving for a while? I live in the country. I had a 95 Ram. I would drive home with the hi-beams on. After 5 miles, they would cut-out. Sometimes could get the lows to work. MY problem was the main-feed of power into the headlight switch was melting at the connector. The terminal at the harness that fed the headlights, at the headlight switch, was backed-out, and melted. My cure was a headlight relay kit. This eliminated the power for the headlights running through the switch, and used the switch only as a relay trigger. Result was no issues, and brighter lights. Hope this helps. Cost was about $30.

Laz,

I had been driving for about 15-20 minutes so I'm not sure if that would be long enough. But, that's good info for me to look for when I pull the switch out. Brighter lights would be worth it to install a relay too.

Thanks for the tip.
