The instrument digital display (instrument cluster) that shows mph, tire pressure and other information went completely blank on my dashboard.
Any input of what’s causing this is much appreciated . I have a 2013 Ram Bighorn.

Had this happen to my 2013 Laramie (while under warranty thank goodness). At times the instrument cluster would "reboot" while driving or go blank for long periods of time. Dealership replaced it twice with a "refurbished unit" and checked connections both times. When the issues continued for a third time - a factory rep was called in. He recommended using a "factory new" instrument cluster for the third repair. After that was installed 5 years ago, I've never had any issues. I think RAM has had some issues with the instrument cluster in the past - but probably not bad enough for a recall.

My 2013 1500 had some intermittent issues with the instrument cluster and entertainment system going dark when it was fairly new, but I wasn't able to reproduce it and the dealer wasn't able to do anything about it. Several years later, I turned the truck off at the end of the driveway while getting the mail. When I went to restart it, everything was dark and I couldn't get anything on the truck to respond. After a flatbed ride to the shop, it was found that there was a loose connector under the dash. Whether the two were related, I don't know.

The dealership called me and said they would have to order a new instrument cluster ($1400). I told them I would come pick up the truck before deciding what to do. When I got there, the technician brought the repair order sheets and the keys into the service department and he said when he restarted the vehicle to move it out front, everything came back on and the dash was working properly.
This is exactly what I encountered. Cluster failure can be unpredictable and my experiences, along with what I've read about it elsewhere, suggests that when a cluster is on the fritz it will be totally fine, back and forth, until it isn't anymore.
I love seeing the support from corporate here, good on you guys! But to give a shout out to some independent shops too (because there are a handful) I had a great experience with these guys: Dodge Instrument Clusters - Replacement Cluster Panels, Dash Panels, Gauge Clusters, Speedometers for Dodge

It's important to add, for anyone considering any DIY repairs, cluster work is best left to the pros. You don't want to get into a situation where you're tampering with mileage. Get it done right and ge the paperwork to back up the work.

I took my 2019 Ram 1500 Bighorn to the dealership and they ran a diagnostic and fixed two unrelated recall items. That was yesterday on 5-20-2020. I'll update in a few weeks to let everyone know how it's going.

Just got mine diagnosed at the dealership. They have to replace the instrument cluster panel. Pickup has to stay at the shop until the new part arrives so the odometer will be correct. Only 718 miles on the pickup. No lead time yet on when the part will arrive. Not a happy camper. Maybe should of stayed with GMC.

I have a 2019 Ram 1500 Big Horn Crew Cab and was told my cluster board needs to be replaced by the dealer. The problem was it was adding miles to my truck and they said that they can only reset to miles that are on the truck to day but i was there for an oil change last week and it added like 400 mile in a week and i only use it to and from work which is 15 miles each way. not sure how i can get them to fix this

I have a 2019 limited top of the line and nothing but issues , everything luxury in the truck is trash my complete dash board bubble and shrink, was replaced by dealer after fighting with corporate and open a case was out of warranty and before that the arm rest punch a hole on the side leather piece defective design and also the center rear seat belt cover fell apart and thats not even cementing on the so call amazing 12" display going dark once every other month and the ac temperature sensor going off and ac wont cold sometimes . Also the fuel hose where you put fuel was replace because it created fumes and wont let me put fuel also all the door handles paint is coming out at the edges poorly paint quality and NOW the miles display is also completely black so all that money to have a complete defective truck .
All i have to say is dont waist your money with the limited version 30k on defective technologies and bad paint jobs . Great drive train never had an issue other than the battery but everything else trash

2017 Ram 1500 Laramie. Yesterday, the digital display intermittently goes blank, 6 times on a two hour drive. Concurrently, entertainment display dims, but does not go blank. Seven months out of warranty. No other issues except the intermitant backup camera failure. But reclosing the tailgate resolves this problem.

2019 RAM cluster instrument display has been intermittent for months and is now completely blank. I filed a complaint with the NHTS so we will see what happens. Last time i put my truck in for a recall and repair, it took 2 months for the appointment and they took 2 weeks to fix. That issue was with the side mirrors and check engine light. I saw a cost of $1400 in this forum to replace the cluster instrument display. That seems like a high cost for a frequently reported issue according to this forum.

2019 Ram 1500 here, 21k miles and cluster screen went blank about a week ago. Took it to the dealer, they are saying hardware failure and telling me it is not covered under the warranty, quoted me $1300 to fix. Called FCA, they said it isn’t covered. Seems like potential safety issue, I haven’t seen a recall for it yet.

@ramcares thoughts???

bought a new 2021 ram 1500 v6 in November 2021, at just over 3000km the dash displayed service shifter, service throttle body, service brakes, service power steering and the list goes on. the screen would black out at times while driving and the message to not put truck in park because it may not start again. i brought it to the dealer and they advised it was a grounding pin bent a little so they straightened it and said everything was fixed, they cleared 59 codes from the trucks computer. will there's almost 5000km on the truck now and its doing the same thing so i drove it straight to the dealer and they asked me to park inside and turn off the truck. i left the dealership and today they call me and say theres no codes so they dont know whats wrong and to drive it until it does it again or breaks down. this is not acceptable, i cant even go anywhere with out the fear of the truck breaking down. I PAID $64000 FOR A TRUCK I CANT EVEN USE SAFELY. ANY ONE ELSE HAVE THIS ISSUE?

After a year of failed attempts on fixing my digital cluster that wont go on and I basically have to guess my miles im finally said screw all ram trucks and everything Chrysler , the brand is a piece of sh$$$$
Customer support is terrible no help at all
Their only answer is to make an appointment at the dealer
Everything technology that i paid over 20k on a limited 4x4 doesn't work thanks to the cluster been completely black
4x4 doesn't work anymore on my truck never used it only that one time that i try to park on the grass of the mall because there was no parking and the 4x4 never engage and i have no screen to see why
So F the ram and everything Chrysler and welcome to the superduty family
I hope anyone that sees this post has a better luck than i did with my POS truck
And if you are not sell that junk and get a ford

Is not a faulty sensor or wire is just garbage made by a cheap brand CHRYSLER , my 2019 ram limited was good on powertrain but after 2 years of calling them and fail attempts at the dealer they told me they are not responsible for a faulty and actually dangerous part of the car that controls and shows important things about safety and technology on the truck so what was my only option?
I got a new super duty tremor and it was the best thing possible, the ford dealer took my shit ram fixed it in a week and sold it but the carfax report shows all the garbage issues that got repair sense day one
So yes good looking truck but still a CHRYSLER so if anyone in this post wants to keep dealing with rams bad service and poor dealers good luck but my advice get a something better or wait some years until the brand becomes part of something else because everything chrysler is the same quality as the dollar store
