Anyone else have an issue with this? The shiny chrome trim around the center console has blinded me on numerous occasions. Anyone else? I mean it's almost a safety issue - I've had glare so bad that (even with sunglasses) I was seeing spots.

Not sure who had the "bright" idea of having shiny trim where the sun often hits. I'm ready to take steel wool and create the "brushed aluminum" look.

That glare is terrible, even with tinted windows. I painted that trim on a 2012 3500 Laramie that I just traded for a 2014 1500, and I'll be doing it on the new one.

That trim piece pops out real easy, then you can paint it with the black Krylon textured paint(Walmart) and it will match the black plastic of the cupholder/console almost perfectly. Just make sure that you rough up the chrome first. I'm the kind of person who hates to mess with oem parts on a new truck, but this was well worth it. I don't have any pics, but if you browse around over on cumminsforums, you should be able to see pics that others have posted. It's a pretty common complaint over there.

How did you explain that to your wife (spray painting your $50,000 truck)?

While I'm at it... the LED light that lights the console reflects of the same dam trim piece... it then reflects off the passenger's window (at night obviously). It looks like a distant headlight when you stop at an intersection.

didnt read the responces but...
you should wrap it in the vinyl wrap. you can buy rolls of it on ebay cheap and its easy to work with. it wont harn anything and will come of no problem. it looks very nice when done right. just put it on and razor blade the edge! 1000s of different styles. have fun

I had the same issue with my 2010 1500 and I painted it with Plastidip. It matches the black plastic very well and it looked like new 3 years later.

A couple weeks ago I traded that truck in and bought a new 2014 2500 Bighorn. I was prepared to do this on my new truck but it does not have this issue. The trim piece is more of a satin or brushed look. It does not reflect the sun like the chrome piece.

If you look on the Mopar site, there are two different part numbers listed for this piece. One part # is 1HS06SZ0AA and the other is 1HS06SZ6AA. A Google Image search for 1HS06SZ0AA shows some pictures of the chrome trim but there are no images for the other. Maybe the 1HS06SZ6AA is the satin finish.
