I was wondering if anyone here upgraded the 5 blade fan (normally found on 2nd generation Ram's and Ram Van's) to 9 blade fan found on 1st generation Durango's and 2nd generation Dakota's.

If you have upgraded to the 9 blade fan. Have you seen improved cooling?

I don't like electric fans. I ditched that setup long time ago for the factory setup. Can't beat the reliability of it.

The factory fan, and cooling system, on your Ram was tested carrying its rated towing-load, up-hill, in Arizona, at their proving grounds. Unless it is broken, I promise that it will be more than enough to meet your cooling needs. "More" blades is not always better. So much more goes into it then that. The shape of the factory "fan-shroud" itself is a science. I am on many other Mopar-based "Hot-Rod" forums where I see people spend thousands on "Custom aluminum radiators", electric-fans with "magic" blades. Most of them have overheating issues due to a bad, or NO fan shroud. The 1970 Plymouth Fury wagon with a 440 was designed to tow a trailer through the hills. Yet people dicked with it, and couldn't make a street-Charger run without over-heating. The Mopar fan-clutch is actually one of the most reliable on the market.

While I agree with most of this, I havve found two things on my Ram that needed improved upon in the cooling system.. One was my radiator... I hate plastic tanks and after having 2 OEM Radiators go out on me with in a month I found the problem to be two fold... First the plastic can't withstand sudden severe elevation changes. The second thing I noticed was both the radiators had excessive pressure signs. When I noticed this on my first Radiator, I changed out the Water Pump, Timing Chain, and also replaced the head gaskets. While the heads were off I took them in to my machine shop to have them tested for cracks (they were fine). I also replaced the radiator cap as well. So when I saw the same thing happen to the second radiator tank, I decided to try a Griffin Radiator. about 26,000 miles later I haven't had my radiator blow up, and my truck doesn't over heat any more.

I'm not one to believe into those magic blades or that type of guy who would spend hundreds on electric fan setup's. Matter of fact, I hate both of that kind. As I stated in the previous post, I prefer the factory setup for its reliability and cooling. Thanks for lecture.

I was wondering the same thing panhead.
When I replaced my water pump and fan clutch I looked into what different blades were available.
The fan on that link isnt the one that will work with the fan clutch.
I found a plastic one and another oem replacement that wasn't as heavy.
The angle of the blades was suppose to increase the air flow and blah blah blah.
Something just didn't seem right to me with putting on a very lite piece of plastic on there so I just stuck with the stock blades.
I haven't seen anyone really talk different blades, just going to an efan.
