Hey guys,
So I’m in the process of replacing my rack and pinion. I got the old one off and when I went to open the new one it said that the PS system needed to be flushed.

So my question is what is is the best way to flush the system with the rack off before I put the new one on. If someone could give me a detailed step by step of how to flush it with the rack off I’d really appreciate it.

Can i ask why you guys changed your racks? Was it because of the infamous power steering fluid leak? i have a leak and need to re-fill the power steering pump every 2 weeks. I don't see any hoses leaking, so is the leak coming from a crack in the rack somewhere? Just wondering if I you tried to fix it somehow before deciding to buy a new one.

I replaced my R & P last year or earlier this year. It had approx. 85K miles on it. It was leaking out of one of the seals. I believe it was caused by the vent in the cap not working correctly. The system then builds pressure and cannot release it, then blows the seals. There's a few easy fixes for this. Google it and you will see the fixes.
