I would not use factory floor mats over husky mats or other mats. You are creating a space that will trap water between the mats. That space slows the evaporation of water and creates a great breeding ground for mold and mildew. Just pick the mats you like. Weathertech and husky mats look good and keep the floor of your truck looking great. With nice seat covers and weathertech mats the interior of my truck still looked new when I traded it in and that increased the value. I work construction, so the interior of my truck was never babied.
Thanks, good to know. Guess I'm stuck here, I love the look of the floor mats and the seats that came with the rebel. As much as I wanna protect my investement, I sure would hate to hide all that. The husky floor liners look nice, but seat covers I just donno..

Factory mats are fine too and seat covers are a personal choice. I had black seats with grey inserts from factory and purchased FIA covers that were black with charcoal inserts. Fia makes covers that fit like they are stiched over the seat. They are expensive but worth it for me. With dirt and grime from construction sites and my American Bulldog sitting in the passenger seat, the seats could get pretty dirty. I'm also not rockin'the rebel interior.

I did side steps and weather tech floor mats on my 2500. I'm going to do the step assist thing for the back bumper. I'm 6'4" and getting into my bed is tough for me. Plus I'm going to do leather interior when I get a chance.

Im in the tree care service industry , there's no shortage of grease and grime on my clothing at any given time lol.. I might just have to look into covers too. Thanks

I installed an HID light upgrade kit, Tonneau cover, black tube side steps, and a oil catch can on the engine. Save your money and do not buy a called cold air intake kit. The ram already has a cold air intake on it, and all the aftermarket ones due is make more noise. Some people say they are getting a lot of extra power, thats is ok because it is not my money.

THose footwell lights. Are they on the entire time when your headlights are on? What about if your headlights are off? Or do they only come on when you open a door? Thanks!
Footwell lights only come on, when the interior lights are on.
Couple guys have replaced OEM bulbs with Leds so they can pick and choose light colours.

Best place to get the OEM I used is "you Pull the Parts" type of junk yard, from a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Hope this answers your question.

Looking at gofishn's thread I have those lights, they came on my truck. Tell3131 are you sure you don't have them already? They should be standard on a Big Horn

Some of us are slower than others. I realized last night I have those lights. HA, HA

Was curious as to if there are lights that will stay on when headlights are on. I had a Ford with Ambient Lighting and it lit up the front and back footwells with light. . . Probably an aftermarket light I could add. Not a huge deal though.

Thanks Thunderhorse!

so far I've added a
catch can
stub antenna
window tint
vent visors
factory floor mats (here is where I learned a valuable lesson) DO NOT go cheap with these especially if you live in snowy climates. I wish I would've gotten Weather techs or Husky mats. My factory ones have allowed debris and salt/sand in between the mat and door sill and around the gas pedal. I'll be shampooing the carpet in the spring and upgrading my mats! I would also say to put protection in areas that get high use or are targets for rust.

Howdy! What kind of protection do you use to protect from rust? Like you, I live in the sand, salt, and rust area of the country. LOL

I have to say, I absolutely LOVE my new 2016 Ram 1500 Big Horn!

Things I've added:
- Tail light chrome
- Tail gate handle chrome
- Third tail light chrome
- Door side chrome molding (to protect from azzhole door dingers!)
- Side steps (yes, sorry, over $100)
- Grille guard (again, over $100)

Things I plan on adding:
- Pig tail and mounts for parking sensors, to mount onto grille guard (Will build myself)
- Tailgate assist
- Rear light bars for reverse backup lights
- Silver light bulbs in headlights, or convert to HID light bulb system.
- Light bar on front Grille Guard and wire to both (1) on/off switch and (2) high beam lights (if switch is on) NOTE: Can only light when high beam lights are on.
- Rear taillight LED bar (red)
- LED front daylight running lights
- Bed liner
- Tonneau cover

That should keep me both broke and busy for the next few months. LOL

I researched this a bit before doing mine, and from my understanding that the black tar type or rhino type rustproof can actually do more harm then good. Apparently water finds its way in between the rustproof and metal and is trapped there. The metal starts to rust and spread, going undetected under the rustproofing.

I went with the clear greasy type stuff that gets sprayed on and in everything. Its a little messy but seems to be doing its job. They recommend re applying the underside every season, and inside all the panals every other season.

Why are you going to connect it to the headlights? It would seem to me that you wire it to comeon with the switch it would come on with the switch with or without the head lights being on in high or low beam. I think you are just adding work with number 2.
If you want the light bar to come on if the high beams are on then that would mean you would need a relay set up so ic turned on hte light bar with the switch OR the high beams.

But you might want to check the lawn in your state and any other state you drive through at night because in some stated have a law about how many white lights you are allowed to have on in the front of the vehicle at night.

I'm going to hook it up to the high beam lights, so that I don't accidently have it turned on, and blind someone coming towards me. Won't/Don't need it on manually, without the lights. It's actually no more work, as I'll have the manual switch between the high beam line and the LED light bar. The only reason I will wire a manual switch, is to be able to turn it off, when in high beam, if I don't need it. Not sure if it makes sense to you, but no biggie, as it makes perfect sense to me! :) :smiley_thumbs_up:

Understand about checking the laws. My main use for the light bar on high beam, will be mostly for country road driving. Hence, the manual on/off.

I'll have to check into the relay, as I'm not sure about that? I was planning on just tapping into the high beam line. Won't that work? I'm up for any thoughts/ideas on that.

Thanks for your feedback!

PS. I am not associated with this company in any way. I just happened to find this page full of information whill doing some research on reverse lights. i have no knowledge about the quality of products or service from iJDMTOY.

Thanks for your feedback!
I think it would be better to just wire it up from the battery through a normally open relay that is closed by a switch. That way you will not have the full current for the light running through the switch.

Go here http://store.ijdmtoy.com/Dodge-RAM-1500-CREE-LED-Pod-Light-Kit-p/70-226.htm click on FAQ and scroll down to whee you see the picture of the white Ram. Just ablove the picture you will see (in blue) a link to truck LED wiring guide. Scroll down further and you see a video (picture shows a blue Ford). Between these two you can get an understanding of what I am saying.

Hope this helps.

Excellent! Thanks dg8r! I'll check it out. I appreciate you digging into it for me!

Sorry for the delayed reply. I'm going with a place about an hour and a half from my place that does an excellent job at rust proofing. They do an auto undercoating and rust proofing job that's top notch from the reviews I've read. It was actually someone on here that brought them to my attention. It covers everything, they even go in between the wheel wells, so you don't end up with the dreaded rusted out rear wheel well. packages start from $495-$995 totally worth it! I would do some research in your area and see if someone offers something like that. http://www.rustcoaters.com/
