No gasket. RTV run a bead on cover outside of bolt holes let set up a few minutes to get tacky and "skin" then torque cross patern.

 

I've used gaskets on rear diffs for years and never had leaks knock on wood but thanks for the heads up.

 

pattern. Have, but manufacture have not. So there may not be a gasket available for that cover.

 

I got a fel pro gasket from the auto store right up the street it was the last one they had

 

LOL I have my motorcycle torn down chasing a problem. Have a cover with one of those tissue paper thin gaskets. Of course its junk after taking cover off. $20 or so for gasket. I got material and made one.

 

Haha yeah I should of made one. Its expensive for what it is ya know. I just use gaskets because I'd rather quickly switch out a gasket when needed then going through the process of scraping all that crap off you know what I mean. I have used rtv before and it holds up just fine. Right now I have a half inch thick strip of rtv around the rear cover from the factory I'm assuming, but judging by how much is all over the place and how bad it's leaking it might be from previous owner. If the gasket leaks I'll switch over to rtv no big deal.
