Hey guys and gals,

I have a 2013 ram sport with the 8.4an system. I just noticed that when i exit the truck and lock the doors the radio and the instrument cluster lights won't go out. I am aware that there is an "engine off" section among the setting where you can change the time before the headlights and radio turn off after the engine is shut down. My settings are at 45 seconds for the radio and 30 for the headlights (or vise versa). Anyway, have any of you guys had this problem? any ideas what the problem could be? Also, is there battery rundown protection on the truck?

Yes the Ram comes standard with (IBS) Intelligent Battery Sensor.

The intelligent battery sensor technology is used to continually measure the flow of current into and out of the battery. If the battery is running low, the system compensates by systematically shutting off onboard electrical systems to help prevent a customer from being stranded due to a low or depleted battery.

try to lock your car ans look through the window and see if it shuts off after a few secs. my wifes vw cc does that it drives me nuts makes me think i left the key in the ignition...there is also a power button on the radio hit that before you shut off your motor and then see what happens. ... i also have a 13

Being these trucks are all software driven it could be as simple as the truck needing a re-boot. Pull your negative battery cable off and let the truck sit for 20 minutes to a half hour. Re-attach the cable and see what she does then. If that doesn't do the trick, get her to the dealer. Could be a simple software flash to correct it.

with all the Rams built since 2009 & maybe a bit older ones
the alternator will never fully charge your battery
you will need to put it on a charger for a few hours to get the battery fully charged & after it is, the alternator will keep the battery charged at the normal rate

for some reason the Internal Regulator is set to work that way, its something a Dodge Tech can explain better

Same troubles with my RAM. Dealer pulled their hair out for a while until they got together with the uConnect people on the phone. If your radio is keeping the truck awake there's no fix for it, no way to move whatever firmware that has been installed backward to the original. They replaced my radio and all was good again.

Good luck.

Hey guys,

I brought my truck to the dealer when this issue first came up. They said they "reset the radio" and it fixed the problem (lol) anyway, it seemed to work...until tonight...it just happened again. I unhooked the neg battery terminal for about 5min and it fixed the issue...for now. I really hope they come up with a solution to this. I haven't had a software update yet...unless the dealer did it the day they "reset the radio". How can I find out what version I have?

They might have meant the factory reset which I've heard didn't work for others. I think the menu to get to this option is accessed by holding down the heating and cooling buttons (blue and red arrows) for five seconds. (With the dual climate zone, hold both sides' heating and cooling). I'd imagine that there is somewhere either in settings or this engineering menu that tells you the version.

my radio wont shut off either on my 13. When I turn the truck off and open the door the radio continues to play, but its always turned off when I get back out to my truck. Not sure whats up. I was thinking about bringing it by the dealer but by the sounds of it, no one is having any luck there anyways.

My Truck was at the Dealer for 10 days due to the instrument Cluster not turning off and the UConnect Issue. According to the Service Advisor at the Dealer Detroit would not auth replacing the Radio until the Cluster was replaced 1st. I ended up send the Service Advisor a link to this thread and he convinced the engineers in Detroit to allow him to change the Radio to see if it corrected the problem. From what I heard from the Service Advisor there will be a TSB coming out pointing out the fix for the Cluster will recommened swaping out the radio

I have a '13 Ram Express CC with the RA1 radio and it is doing the same thing. I turn off the timer in the EVIC and it does what it's supposed to once, but then goes back to staying on when the key is off. I took it to the dealer and first they tried to tell me it was a "feature". After explaining it to them again, he called me back and said it works every time. So I went to pick it up, and guess what? It didnt work. The service manager got involved and told me Chrysler knows the issue and is working on a fix. I got a call Wednesday saying the "engineers" at Chrysler said it is a problem with the BCM. Replacing that next week so wish me luck. Also, detailed my truck today, it is covered in rail dust but no amount of clay bar is helping. I'll bring that up to them next week as well.

Just got my 2013 Bighorn a couple of weeks ago and having the same issue. I have the air suspension and it started when I changed the settings for it from the radio. The remote stopped working to lower it to entry/exit mode and the dash lights stayed on all night.

I set it to blink lights and beep horn when lowering by remote and the lights went off. I switched these functions on and off several times with the same result: dash lights turning off immediately after I lock, remote not working to lower the truck. Incidentally I can't lower it from inside the truck either with the dash button. I am not sure what this means but it could be the first piece of the puzzle.

I had the same problem with the EVIC not saving settings in my SXT. I want the radio to shut off as soon as I shut the truck down. I change it to that setting and it doesn't remember it. Luckily, mine reverts to the factory default of shutting things down after 45 seconds and doesn't stay on all the time like some of you have the misfortune of experiencing.

The dealer said today that Chrysler is working on a software update to fix it, so hopefully it will have a fix come my first oil change.

Well, the dealer replaced the BCM. It worked twice then back to the same thing. They realized they really screwed up by telling me it was fixed for the 2nd time. So I took it back to the dealer Monday. Got a call today saying they still can't figure it out so they're having a Chrysler engineer "fly in" tomorrow to diagnose. Sucks, but at least I demanded a Durango and got it. I'm a big dude and the lady originally offered me a Fiat 500! Are you kidding me.

I'm having the same problem...I've been having this problem since February. I brought it to the dealership multiple times and still no fix. They told me to be patient and they will eventually find a fix for it. At this point every time it happens I disconnect my battery and let it reset. This fixes the problem for multiple start-ups until it happens again. Hopefully they figure it out soon.
