Anybody have this, and if so what do you think of it?

I recently purchased a new truck. Options galore!
Two items I specifically did NOT order were factory air suspension and a sun roof.

Here's my point of view on the factory air suspension...
I researched it and felt it was a truly wonderful gadget to have, and I love gadgets. :smiley_thumbs_up: However. . .

If your truck is principally going to be a Sport Truck, then I would go with the factory air suspension, definitely!

If your truck is going to be a Work Truck (or in my case, haul around a 3800 pound camper) then I would not get the air suspension.

In short; If you know your gonna' stay well within your payload limits, then I would order the air suspension. I'ts a nice system.

If I got a 2500 I would not get it. I am not a huge fan of pneumatic stuff like that even though it is just an assist. I prefer a fully mechanical setup.

Last year my local dealer had an air rear suspension 2500 truck on the lot. Well, parked out behind the lot. So I asked if I could try it out. They said there was a problem with the air system. No air in the bags.
Without the air, the salesman said it rode very rough. Had taken it out on a test drive with a customer that knew that the rear suspension wasn't working.
That would be a concern if I wanted the 2500 with the rear air suspension.
Now on the 3500, there are a couple of leaf springs in addition to the air bags. So in the event of an air system issue, at least you'd have some suspension to ride on.

I completely agree with you. I went back and forth on the whole thing as well. I guess at some point I justified my decision to get the air suspension because:

I did not see lots and lots of posts complaining about how undependable they were.

I found myself starting to plan on adding airbags to a brand new truck, and at the time, there were limited options, and the installation was so so at best. (watched a you tube video and saw some issues a guy had installing his, I don't have a plasma cutter)

The airbags on my Tacoma have never failed me but you do need to slightly add air to them from time to time (once every couple of months). I heard this was kind of normal and not indicative of a leak or failure.

So at some point the decision was made. Should I have any problems with the system I will most certainly post it up on the board so that others may use that information to decide if the system is right for them.
