Ambient Lighting Issues

Hello,

I’m having issues with the ambient lighting in my ‘19 Laramie. The light above the glove box only works some of the time, the other lights work as they should. Is anyone else having this issue? I’m going to take it to the dealer, but I’m a little nervous about how much would have to be removed to get to the light itself if it needs to be replaced. I’ve tracked acouple pics to show you what I’m talking about.

Thanks

That should be a quick easy fix

its likely that they compress the lower glove box in from the sides & pull it out
Then if they have to, they could remove the screw in the bottom of the upper glove box & remove that too

That is the way that they assembled them for the last 9 years,
i doubt that they have changed it much

Hi TX-Laramie,
We would be more than happy to assist while you are working with your dealer on this. Please feel free to send our team a private message with your VIN, phone number, current mileage and servicing dealer.

I took a better look in pitch darkness, and the good news is that I can see dim lighting behind the glove box, is seems the LED strip may have shifted (or perhaps not secured fully at the factory).

Anyone know how easy it is to dismantle the upper storage area?? I’d like to see if I can fix this myself if I can.

Thanks,

From what I was told, they replaced the light bar above the glove box. I took it to Ancira Dodge in San Antonio and it took a few days because they were fixing a couple other issues. I have to take it back because now the ambient lighting in the rear, passenger door panel isn’t working.

Ancira seems pretty good, or they did before I moved out of San Antonio

I think I have a lighting issue too. Didn't even realize until I saw your pics. I'm in a Laramie trim.

The upper glove box has lighting only in the upper right hand corner that shines down on my interior Laramie logo. What I've noticed also though is that the bottom left corner of the upper glove box allows the light from inside the glove box to shine out too.

From your pics it looks like the lighting should be even across the entire top of the upper glove box and no lighting should be bleeding out at the bottom edge of the glove box door.

Only had the truck a week :(

Make sure it's turned on. The dial is down by your headlights. You'll have two dials/wheels down there next to your headlight selector. One for regular dash lights and the other for the ambient/mood lights.

I'm going to pop the upper glove box door off and see if it's a simple fix this weekend if I have time. Don't want it sitting at the dealer for a whole day if I don't have to.

I have a Laramie and I don’t see a light above the glove box at all. I looked underneath the lip and I don’t see an led light strip at all like the one member mentioned. I wonder if it’s only there on some of the Laramie trim packages??? I have the base Laramie model with no equipment groups added.

Im wondering if the glove box light and door panel lights are an option that comes with a particular trim level. On my 2019 Rebel, when I open the door, the footwell, and headliner lights come on. No lights on the door panels or glovebox.
If I'm in the truck, the footwell lights do not come on when the ambient dimmer is turned up / down.

I have the same issue with my truck. I have the Laramie, accent lights all work in other areas except for the strip above the upper glove box. Even the lights above the start button and to the left of the center console all work. I suspect my light strip is missing over the upper glove box. The dealer has no clue what I am talking about. Does anyone have the part number or official name of what this is called so I can explain it to them? Also, anyone know how to get to this in the dash?

The strip of lights above the upper glove box is not working at all on my Laramie. Can anyone tell me if they can see the light strip when it is not on? Pictures would be great. I am looking to see if mine is missing or just not working. I have heard some people say it’s only lit above the badge but mine is not on at all. It is on in other areas of the dash. Thanks in advance for the help!
