Got them in today. Cant say they changed to much but I guess i'll see when I do some night driving. Broke the 2 tabs at the bottom of the grill trying to put it out. oops

The only time I feel like I notice DRL's is when one is out (usually on Chevys) and it's "winking." Now, some of the newer vehicles with LED accent lighting as DRL's I notice. Like the new higher end Tundra's, Audi's, Chargers, some Chevys, etc.

One of the GM DRLs is ALWAYS out it drives me nuts for some reason.

So, here's probably a stupid question but where would one go to obtain these lights? The Philips 9011 and the H9.
Amazon was where I obtained mine. Your local AutoParts store could get them for you but they may not be an off the shelf item, depending how much of a selection they have.

The h9 definitely will be stocked, the 9011 probably not.

Did the 9011 swap. Extremely happy with the results. Was concerned about upgrading the lows but after reading this thread I am going to try the H9 swap as well.

Have had my truck for a week and a half now, and drove in my first rain storm last night. Christ have mercy, I could not see. Was rather dangerous to be honest.

I ran HIDs in my last car and dont really want to go that route again, so I will be trying the 9005 to 9011 and h11 to h9 swap.

Hope to see an improvement

What? I don't understand what you're asking.

If you have quad housings then your highs and lows are different bulbs (h11/h9 for low and 9005/9011 for high). If you have duals then you only have an H13 and you're SOL for this upgrade.

For projectors <2016 you have a 9012 in the lowbeam, and a 9005/9011 for hte highbeam. 9011 being the upgrade for the 9005 in all cases.

For projectors >2016 then you have 9005's in the low and high which you can and should change to 9011's.

I have a 2015 Sport with the projectors and if I'm understanding this correctly, I can upgrade the high beams to a 9011, but no upgrade for the low beams? Sorry if that is a dumb question, just trying to understand if there is an upgrade option for the low beams in my truck. Thanks.

It's not a dumb question: perhaps I haven't explained well enough.
You understand correctly and it is one hell of an upgrade for your night time driving.

HID bulb swap is available for the low beam and it works decent in those lights. Although make sure you aim them down just a touch.

The oem halogens have squirrel finders in them which allow a bit of light past the cutoff to reflect street signs and such. Obviously they are designed for the halogen bulb. The HID bulb lets a bit too much light past and it can irritate other people. I ran them for 6 months in the projectors before doing a retrofit and so long as they are aimed well you shouldn't have any issues :). If you do go that route as well, make sure you stick with 4300-4500K. That will give the best lighting in all conditions.

IMO you will see plenty good with the 9012's in the low beam and 9011's in the highbeam. I doubt you'd find a need for anything more than that. That setup still outperforms the highbeam on my bixenons.

Just completed this on a 2016 2500; I did not remove the front grill. Thanks to this thread, was 30 minute upgrade start to finish, and definitely a good step before deciding to go HID.

I just ordered the bills l bulbs to do this upgrade, they'll be here Tuesdays. I went out and started looking at what all is required to change the bulbs. The dodge engineers sure did a short job on making it easy to do. On my last two vehicles I could change out the bulbs for both sides in 5 minutes, not with dodge, is a major undertaking. Thankfully it's not something that has to me done frequently.

Ok guys, I'm pretty confused and can use a simple clarification of what i have and what I need to do a plug in upgrade of my headlights.
I have a 2012 1500. I'm not sure what you consider quad lights. I have one headlight housing, with two bulbs in each, one above the other. I believe the low beam is on top and is a H11 bulb, not sure what the high beam bulb underneath the low beam is.

So, are there better then stock bulbs I can simply replace my existing bulbs with to improve night driving?

Thanks!

You have the quad lights. Just follow the directions in this thread.

Just did the h9 and 9011 swap this morning, pain in the A $$ with that stupid screw behind the wheel well trap door. Definitely not the easiest bulb replacement. Pulled in the garage to make sure everything was working,it looks the low and high beams are much brighter. Will see what's the difference better tonight in the dark.

You guys are missing out big time.

I bought these and they are way better and very reliable too

Assuming you're running quads?

I'm glad that you like them. But I'll respectfully disagree anyone using this setup is missing out on anything short of a proper D2S retrofit.

If you didn't read the thread, the intention was to upgrade headlights without HID's (for reasons that were discussed earlier).

I would be willing to bet good money that even though you're putting out more lumens, you have worse downrange vision than anyone running the setup I've suggested. Mostly because the extra lumens you have are going north into the trees, peoples eyes, out into the bushes, and a large majority directly below your front bumper. Looks brighter sure.

The sport/laramie PJ's are a slightly different story.
