I was looking to replace my headlight bulbs on my 2016 express, quad, halogen headlights, and ran across HIR bulbs, are these plug and play, and are they worth doing?
Sorry if it's a dumb question, but I know nothing about lighting, I've used silverstars and had Phillips xtravision in my 2012 with the dual headlamps.

Check out my siggy. It has the information you seek. "4th gen bulb upgrade thread"

9011 HIR replaces 9005 in the highbeam with modification with nail clippers
H9 replaces the H11 for the low beam and requires similar modification.

You cannot put an HIR in the lowbeam but an H9 has the same output as one. None of the current gen phillips "HIR" are really HIR anymore, but meet/exceed the same specifications for bulb life, lumens, and power consumption as the first generation "true" HIR bulbs toshiba created.

Enjoy your new found lighting! You will not beat this without going for a full retrofit :)

I did the conversion for the high beam. It was very simple. Much better light output. For the lows i just went with H11 extravisions. I wasnt sure if the H9 would be better than the xtravisions.

So far the light output is better than stock, but I am still wanting to do the OE style projectors with a HID upgrade.
