Has anyone done it? Drilled a stock ball joint and threaded in a grease zerk?
My 2005 has only 34000 miles on the clock, but the ball joint boots on the lower joints are completely gone. I found some replacement boots from Energy Suspension but would like to pump some grease there before installing the boots.

No......NO......NO!!!!!!!

If the boot failed STOP, don't try to fix it.

Just go to rockauto and buy a set of Moog problem solver ball joints (they are very very nice and have a lifetime warranty) that come with grease fittings and a much higher quality joint than any factory unit I have encountered so far.

Yeah I agree with striker on this one

No guarantee's on fitment at this moment, but the Energy Suspension web site says they will work on a 2006, and I figured it would be the same for my 2005. Just a glitch in their data base. Worth throwing $5 bucks at anyway.

9.13130g for black. Red ones had a different letter on the end.

Ebay was the cheapest, but the Autozone web site was offering free shipping on all orders, so $5.35 shipped was what I paid.

To the others, I agree the Moog part is defiantly a superior part, and will likely be in my future, but my Ram is so low mileage, and has never even seen snow (Florida Truck). I'm recovering from a bad motorcycle crash, and the full replacement is more than I can do myself today, but I think I can pull off just splitting the ball joint and slipping the new boot on. All my bids to replace the ball joints have been running $400+
