Need some info from the brain trust here. The EVIC engine hours display shows (example) "drive, 79 hours" and "Idle, 12 hours". Questions: is drive the total hours, including idle time, or is it total time while vehicle is in motion? How does Dodge determine what idle hours are?

Yeah, drive and idle are separate, as the two total up to the total value. Probably calculate idle hours when engine is running and no signal through wheel speed sensors, but what do I know!!!!! That's the way I'd do it.

Mine shows all my engine hours under drive. I thought I read that idle was only counted on diesels. Mine says 642 drive hours, 0 idle; and I know I've spent over an hour idling over the life of the truck.

I was told it is rpm related. That idle hours are just that. If you idle in the up-idle mode it will not record as idle hours. Still not sure how idle hours are calculated.
