Yes you can, lots of options from Chrysler up to the Maximum Care Lifetime warranty, and I think you can add one any time before 48,000 miles on your truck. I haven't done it, but seriously considered it on my last truck.

Edit - removing the part about prorating the original factory warranty, I can't find anything that backs that up.

I bought my truck a couple of months ago and just yesterday I got a letter from RAM offering me a deal on getting the factory extended warranty. I thnk if I remember right I read in another thread you can get it anytime before the 3/36,000 mile warranty expires.....

 

I have the 2 year rental coverage on my truck (I forgot what they actually call it) and I got the Maximum Care warranty added on for some "issues" I went through. The Maximum Care cannot be added to the VIN until after the rental coverage lapses, which for me is May 2016. So, the shorter answer is yes, you can add warranties after purchase, but as the mileage increases, the price does as well from what I'm told. The supplemental warranty takes effect after the factory warranty expires, so you don't double your coverage.

I used this exact site to leverage to buy the maxcare lifetime warranty, they tried to get me to buy some 3rd party warranty first, please never buy those types always by factory. We bought a 3rd party once and regretted it once we needed it they aren't worth the paper their printed on. Anyway back to the Chrysler maxcare, I had the dealer match and beat the price on chrylserwarrantys.com, got it for $2400 which is steep but I got 1.9 percent so I just rolled into my monthly rate rather then paying cash for it.

With all the computers on these vehicles now its almost a no brainier for me, we bought one for my wife's car which was about 1800 but in the last year in a half we saved about 3,000 in repairs. Basically its an insurance policy, and all about assumed risk and potential, for me another 25 a month was worth for having a lifetime warranty w/ $100 deduc. I believe after the first year and 12k miles the warranty costs goes up significantly.

it is what i have & i bought it at 34,000 miles on the odometer, it had to be done before 3 years or 36,000 miles, which ever comes first

when i first bought my 2009 Ram, they had slipped a 5 year Basic Care Extended Warranty into the paperwork
When i went to buy the Lifetime Max Care Warranty, the Basic Care Extended Warranty had to be what they called Cancelled, they sort of Pro Rated it & that money was subtracted from the price of the new Max Care Extended Warranty

 

My dealer is offering a 5year/200,000km (120k Miles) warranty.

Includes 16 EcoDeisel Oil Changes
$7600

And if you don't use it, they will refund $4000 at the end of the warranty period.

Business Manager claimed 16 Oil Changes @ $250 was worth $4000.

So I'd make money!!

 

I like the cost of a Cummins oil filter @ $18 plus oil which is about $80

 

The ED oil change costs $250?:SHOCKED: Ouch.

 

I was told that after I signed for it. Good thing I had been here first and found out about the overpriced Filter and hard to find Oil.

I think DIY is still going to cost around $100-$120 (Canadian)

 

Interesting to hear that oil changes at your Dealer cost $250. When I bought my 2015 Ecodiesel in August they only wanted to include 2 free changes, saying they cost $175 each. We negotiated that up to 4, so I am good for the next two years. I subsequently talked with a service guy and he offered me a deal with FOUR changes for $200. I will talk with him about the extended arrant you when I am there next.

 

I just realized he's in Canada, so it's about $188 USD. But still, that's a lot of money for an oil change. I guess it's a diesel thing.

 

Yes, CDN dollars, but still.

It may cost $60 or so today for a filter but that price has got to go down over the course of 16 oil changes.... I hope!

Aftermarket needs to catch up.
