What class is the factory receiver hitch? My truck came with the factory tow package minus the receiving hitch. I wasn't sure which hitch i needed to purchase that would be comparable to the factory one. My friend's 2014 RAM 1500 has the factory hitch and he can tow a 16' steel deck car hauler with a full-size regular cab truck on it...that's what I'd need to pull occasionally except it'd be a Jeep on the trailer not a full-size truck.

From the Reese webpage.

A class III can handle 6000# with a max tongue weight of 600#

A class IV can handle 10 000# with a max tongue weight of 1 000#

(These are without weight distribution)

If it were me, I'll go with the class IV/V below and be done with it. It's $40 more then the class IV, but you'll know that it won't be the weakest link in your system.

That being said, the OEM one looks like your class III, but it is welded and not bolted on (If I remember correctly)

You are better off with the Curt IV. And here is why. The factory unit replaces what you have under there now. It bolts to the frame and does all the stuff of what you currently have. I am talking about the round tube deal that your bumper bolts to. The curt bolts to what you have now and also to the frame. Super strong and secure and they are under $175 on Amazon.
