The muffler you need is a single 3" inlet and dual 2.5" outlet, and the y-pipe is the same. Part # for the Y pipe is 10778 and the muffler is 12198.

Now I am a little confused, why does the muffler have dual outs and the Y-pipe have a single inlet? Is this not what the exhaust looks like?

 

I guess I should have asked...do you have a single or dual rear exhaust right now? The muffler I listed was for trucks with the factory dual exhaust.

But why would the Y-Pipe have a single inlet? I thought (i may be wrong?) but doesn't the exhaust come out of the muffler as a singlet and then split at the y-pipe?

If you want to use the same factory piping then the parts Matt posted will work.

Your diagram posted is single exit but you stated you have dual exit.

 

Think it was his wording.

Magnaflow Y 10778 is 2.5" dual inlet and single 3" outlet
Magnaflow Muffler # is 3" single inlet and dual 2.5" outlet

The y pipe has 2 inlets and a single outlet.

 

the Y pipe goes up near the engine
it collects the exhaust from the left & right banks of the engine, stock ones are flattened & restrict flow

from the Y pipe to the muffler is a single pipe
after the muffler 2 tail pipes run either to the rear bumper or to the sides

I guess I don't understand why a person would keep the "y" pipe at all. If your under the truck doing custom exhaust ,why not just cut off the "y", and go true duals?
Then put on a crossover pipe then back to the mufflers. JMO

 

Honestly I think if there was any major gains to be had from doing so, the aftermarket would have already been all over it. i had the exact same thought as you, but apperently the y-pipe works just fine. Dodge should have done a better design but the bean counters usually are to blame for these kinds of issues.
