Power steering capacity

Hi all - I've searched but apparently not well and can't find the total capacity of power steering fluid needed for the 5.7L motors. I even have the factory service manual and it's not listed there either. Only a procedure on how to flush the system stating to put a quart through and then drain / refill.

Help?

Please enlighten us as to why you want to know the capacity? Fill it to the full line on the stick. Start the truck up and turn the wheel lock to lock. Turn the truck off and repeat until you don't have to fill it anymore. A quart or two will probably be enough to fill it.

I've developed a whine from the pump and was going to flush the fluid. I was just curious how much fluid to buy.

Ever figure out your pump whine? Mine started today, I'm hoping its just the PS pump.

1-2 quarts for a top off, up to 3 for replacing after a flush (since no one answered the last 11 years or so)
