Resonator delete? What’s the point

Ok so I know this question was asked multiple times but does a resonators delete really do anything for a stock ram exhaust ?

I was thinking about doing it for the last month on my truck. My buddy just got a new ram had the resonators removed. For the $100 he paid it isn't worth it. If he didn't tell me that the resonators were removed I would of never known. You can't tell any difference compared to my truck with them. Your better off spending a little more money and swapping the muffler out.

I ran in to a new Ram with a Magnaflow exhaust, spoke to the owner, sounded amazing and quiet in the cab. At first he removed the resonator, but after a few days of driving, he put the resonator back on. The drone in the cab was annoying.

There is this ridiculous idea some people have that the resonators restrict exhaust flow (you can tell they don't just by looking at them) and that they make the exhaust quieter.

There's really no reason to remove them. Having the loudest exhaust possible is a very different objective from having a good sounding exhaust

Exactly! Some people can’t seem to differentiate between loud, and a good sound. I installed the Magnaflow 12588, which is a 22” oval muffler, on my truck and IMO (and we all know sound is totally subjective), it sounds awesome. It is more aggressive under acceleration but not annoyingly loud and at highway speeds, I can’t hear it at all. The only exception is there is a very light drone between 55-60.

Hello, I thought I might chime in and add a little something. I have done exhaust work for over 35 years. First taking the resonators off will not add any peformance ( A performance system from the catalytic converter back and added Performance Air Intake will) The problem with the Rams and some other vehicals is the Multi-Displacement System (MDS).The DRONE people speak of is when the vehicle drops the cylinders and that is why you normally hear it in the 45 MPH area but it does it anytime the MDS knocks the cylinders down and on the highway can /will be worse .Some people are more prone to hear this noise and if you are one of them you will not like it so hang o to your old resonators. The complete system makes the noise worse for those who don't like it but you can stop it by turning off your MDS. But there goes the gas mileage. Hope this helps.

i had my 2019 straight piped from the cat back and let me tell you, i am glad i did this before i bought a after market system. yes it is loud but only if you really want it to be. the 2019 trucks are so well insulated that if you have your windows up you can hardly hear it. my truck sounds like a my brothers charger on steroids. when on the highway it only gets loud if i kick it down. from a take off, i can be a little loud or give it a little heck and be really loud. lol cost me 225.00 to have done at a shop.
