Serpentine belt squeal

My belt assembly, whether the belt or a pulley, gives off a loud squeal when the vehicle is started. Eventually goes away after engine warms up. But only when it's damp or raining out... Hot or cold summer or winter. If it's a dry day, It won't make the noise.

Any ideas?

Most likely the belt, I'd replace that first, while its off, spin the wp, alt, idler and tensioner pulleys and listen for any unusual noise

Its either a belt or a pulley. Its not a terrible idea to replace the belt on a 7 year old truck anyway.

My belt and pulleys looked pretty good and mine started to squeal about a month ago. I picked up the Gates kit for $70 US thanks to this site. All the old parts still look great so I'm assuming belt.

idler pulley on my 99did that for over a decade.

I would replace the belt and the tensioner first. You can check your pulleys while the belt is off to see if any have restricted movement.
